Christian Heich Eliminated in 14th Place (AU$65,000)

Christian Heich - 14th Place
Christian Heich - 14th Place
Christian Heich raised to 40,000 from the cutoff and Stewart Scott made the call on the button.

They saw a flop of {2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Heich led out for 60,000. Scott then raised to 130,000 before Heich raised again to 245,000. Scott moved all in and Heich made the call.

Heich: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Scott: {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Needing a heart for the flush or seven for the straight, Scott watched as the turn delivered the {2-Hearts} to complete his flush. Heich was left requiring a deuce or ten to make a full house, but the river was the {5-Spades} and Heich crashes out of the tournament in 14th place. He'll collect AU$65,000 for his efforts.

Meanwhile Stewart Scott becomes the first player to eclipse the 3 million chip mark!

Three Tables, Not Much Action

You can almost feel a vice around the three tables in the center of the Crown Poker Room, squeezing the play of the remaining fourteen players tighter and tighter. Every elimination carries quite a bit of significance at this stage of the tournament. Players are playing very, very carefully.

Barny Up to his Old Tricks

Christian Heich raised to 40,000 from the cutoff and Stewart Scott made the call on the button. The action was then with Dixon Ruecker in the small blind who put in a three-bet to 155,000.

Next to speak was Barny Boatman in the big blind. Perhaps he sensed weakness as he moved all in over the top for all of his 692,000 chips. His three opponents all folded and Boatman flashed the {9-Diamonds}!

Boatman captures a very nice pot without contest to now sit with 960,000.

100K to Scott

Christian Heich opened for 40,000 from the cutoff. The player on the button to his left was Stewart Scott, who has amassed a stack today by playing extremely aggressive poker. He lived up to his image by reraising to 100,000. Heich called.

Both players checked the {3-Hearts} {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts} flop. Heich checked again when the turn fell {4-Clubs}. Scott bet 100,000, then flashed the {A-Diamonds} after Heich folded.

Levy Comes Back on the Wrong Foot

It's a bad start to post-dinner play for Grant Levy. Sitting in the small blind, he reraised Sam Capra from 45,000 to 108,000 preflop. Capra called to a flop of {3-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}, where he called another 100,000 after Levy led out. Levy checked the turn to Capra, who responded by moving all in. Capra was kind enough to flash an ace after Levy mucked his hand.

Stop the Presses -- Peter Rho Doubles and Takes the Chip Lead!

Peter Rho
Peter Rho
How is it that there is always one major hand that develops just as players are going on the dinner break? It happened again tonight. With most of the players dispersing to go grab a bite of something tasty (try the crispy pork from the food court on Friday and Saturday), Peter Rho raised to 35,000 chips from under the gun. Action passed to Zach Fellows, who made it 120,000. Everyone else folded and headed for the poker room exits.

Action was back to Rho. He tanked for roughly a minute, then put in a small reraise to 280,000 chips total. Fellows tanked for much longer than Rho, almost a full two miinutes, before moving all in for 1.8 million chips. He had Rho covered and realized his mistake when Rho double-fist-pump-snap-called.

Fellows: {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}
Rho: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}

It wouldn't be poker without some kind of sweat. Rho got his sweat when the flop came down king-high, {3-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, to make a pair of kings for Fellows. But the turn and river safely blanked out to give Rho a massive double up to 2.25 million chips total, leaving Fellows with only 647,000.

Rho is the new chip leader, and now we're really off to get some dinner.

Chris Chronis Eliminated in 15th Place (AU$65,000)

Chris Chronis - 15th Place
Chris Chronis - 15th Place
Just a few short hands ago, Chris Chronis had more than 800,000 chips. Now he's out of the tournament in 15th place.

Chronis opened a pot for 30,000 from late position and was called by small blind Christian Heich. Stewart Scott then reraised from the big blind to 100,000. Chronis and Heich both called, creating a pot with 300,000 chips in it before any community cards were dealt.

The flop came down {8-Hearts} {3-Spades} {Q-Clubs}. Heich was first to act and checked. Scott then led out for 250,000 chips. Chronis pushed all in for the rest of his stack, 550,000 chips in total. Heich folded. When Scott quickly called, Chronis knew he was in desperate straits.

Chronis: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Scott: {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}

Chronis' top pair was no good against Scott's overpair of kings. He was left to look for a queen or a ten on the turn or river. The turn was the {6-Hearts}; the river {7-Spades} sent a stunned Chronis to the rail.

Scott is the chip leader now with 1.8 million chips.
