Closing Time
Today (now yesterday), 243 runners ponied up the $10,500 buy-in for their shot at what will inevitably be a +$1 million grand prize. Of those, approximately 100 remain. (Official names and chip counts of those who survived will be released and posted overnight).
Among the names of players who failed to maneuver through the minefield that was Day 1b include, in no particular order, Vanessa Selbst, Jamie Pickering, Shane Warne, Tony Dunst, Michael Pedley, Andy Lee, Hamish Blake, Grant Levy, Erik Seidel, Chris Ferguson, Stewart Scott, Aaron Benton and Jay Rosenkrantz.
If all of those players went busto, you might be asking yourself who survived. Some of the more recognizable players who'll be joining the Day 2 foray include Van Marcus, Annette Obrestad, Jeff Lisandro, Dani Stern, Andy Lichtenberger, Florian Langmann and Leo Margets.
A few names you might not yet have heard of belong to Chad Wiedenheoft, Jackie Glazier and Kostas Loutzianakis. The common denominator amongst them? Each finished the day well above 100,000 in chips and in great position to make a deep run on Day 2.
Our coverage of the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event resumes in approximately 11 hours from this very moment, when the third and final Day 1 flight invades the Crown Poker Room at 12:30 p.m. local time (or as the trend would have it, shortly thereafter).
