We caught up to the action just as all of the money was going in between Michael Guttman and Daniel Alaei on the board of . Alaei held the for top pair, top kicker. He was behind the for Guttman who had flopped two pair and was all in on the turn for 28,800.
The river completed the board with the and Alaei had lost the hand. He was forced to pay off the bet and was left with 41,000 in chips. Guttman moved to 72,000.
Daniel Reijmer can't do anything wrong here on Day 1c. Not only is he playing extremely aggressive, but he's also running super hot. How hot? Well, here's an example.
After a player opened with a raise to 750, Reijmer reraised from the button to 1,825. A lady in the small blind cold four-bet to 3,000. The original raiser folded and then there was a bit of discussion as to whether the four-bet was legal due to the amount. After the dealer worked things out in his head, he let the table know the reraise was fine.
Now, when a nice, innocent lady cold four-bets from the small blind after not playing a hand for nearly the entire tournament, people take notice. The entire table noticed what she did and started really paying attention to Reijmer to see what he would do. After a minute or so, Reijmer splashed out a bunch of chips to put the lady all in. The lady hemmed and hawed for a few minutes and then made the call for her 15,000 and change.
She held the and Reijmer didn't like what he saw. He tabled the . A look of "What did you expect?" came across many of the players at the table as they glanced around at one another. No worries though for Reijmer, he had the poker gods on his side in this one.
The flop, turn and river ran out to give Reijmer a full house and crack the lady's ladies. Reijmer gave a tiny smile to her and shrugged as she got up and out of her seat and hit the rail.
"The rich get richer," commented one of the players at the table.
Indeed they do and Reijmer is the richest of the bunch with 99,000 in chips.
Joseph Serock opened to 700 only to have Winfred Yu make it 2,700. With the action on the small blind, he made it 6,650 to force a fold from Serock as Yu committed his 6,000 total.
From the small blind, George Cotaidis was all in for 3,800. It was Daniel Alaei's big blind and he made the call with the . Cotaidis held the and was dominated.
The board ran out to keep Alaei's tens in the lead and send Cotaidis to the rail. Alaei now has 76,000 in chips.
Daniel Reijmer is surely staying aggressive here on Day 1c and it's help him build the largest stack in the room. Now, his aggression continues to help him maintain top-dog status. Just recently, he opened from middle position and got three-bet from the big blind to 2,500. Reijmer came right back over the top with a four-bet to 5,200 and the big blind folded. One thing is for sure, if you're going to play a pot with Reijmer, you better be ready to put chips in the middle and be able to withstand high pressure situations.
