Pickering into the Lead

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Jamie Pickering has come from nowhere to claim a clear chip lead with 142,000 chips.

The man from the Gold Coast has amassed nearly $500,000 of tournament cashes so he will be a forced to be reckoned with from here on. He came very close to winning a WSOP bracelet in 2008 but was defeated heads-up by Vanessa Selbst in the $1,500 PLO event.

Collopy Caught Out

Jim Collopy's relentlessly aggressive recent approach was fraught with danger if it went wrong, and it did.

He raised from UTG and Stevan Chew defended his big blind, and called a c-bet on the {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. The turn came {7-Hearts} and Chew check-called a 8,900 bet to see the {8-Hearts} river. He checked to the American for a third time and was faced with a bet for all of his 26,000 chips. He blew out a breath of air and called with {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for second pair. Collopy had already mucked his hand and was left with around 9,000 chips.

Moorman Nearing Six Figures

Another pot has been sent Chris Moorman's way as his stack now nears the six-figure mark. The most recent hand saw Moorman take to a {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop against one opponent in a raised pot. Moorman floated the bet on the flop before raising on the {6-Spades} turn to see his opponent throw his cards into the muck.
