JP Kelly just Tweeted: "Down to 32k, dude opens for 1100 call 67s bb calls.J67 with flush draw he bombs 4k get it in for 20k total...he has JJ! #aussiemillons."
JP Kelly is still enjoying success at his table, whereas things are going from bad to worse for James Dempsey at his.
Kelly completed from the small blind and led for 300 on a flop. Joey Parker checked his option in the big blind and called the flop bet. The turn came and Kelly check-called a 300 bet. Both players checked the river and Kelly's bettered Parker's .
Dempsey told us that he's had a straight-over-straight, and a set-over-set. Somehow he's not bust and his positive outlook was highlighted when he said, "Still got a dream, still got a ticket!"
Not only was today the start of Day 1b of the Main Event, it was also the start of Event #12 $5,000 Chinese Poker. The game is popular among top poker players, as evidenced by that event's field. The game is played four handed, and by our count, there are 23 players currently seated including Barry Greenstein, Daniel Cates, Jason Gray, Jeffrey Lisandro, Sam Trickett, Eric Crain, Terrence Chan, Gary Benson, and Sebastian Ruthenberg.
Needless to say, that's some tough competition. We'll try to keep you updated on the Chinese Poker event as the day progresses.
Tristan Wade is one of the more active players in today's field and he just played another interesting pot. The action started when the under the gun player raised to 525, Wade sat to his left and just called with . The player to Wade's left also made the call as did the button and the big blind.
The flop came down and the initial raiser bet 525 after which Wade and his neighbor made the call. On the turn the hit and the initial raiser checked to Wade who also checked. The third player decided to bet out 2,000 and both his opponents called.
On the river the hit and all three players checked. The turn-agressor showed after which the initial raiser showed . Wade flashed his cards and mucked them as he got away very cheaply. "I lost the minimum there", Wade smiled as he leaned back in his chair. His stack is still very good as we are only playing the third level of the day.
Tom Dwan had barely taken his seat when he got involved in a big pot. We missed a good portion of the action and walked in when the flop read . The player in the big blind fired 2,275 into the pot and Dwan called in position.
The turn was the and Dwan's opponent bet 5,500. The poker superstar gave it some thought and eventually made the call. On the river the hit and both players checked. The big blind showed and Dwan tabled in order to win the pot. The players are gunning for Dwan right away and we could see some big action over the next couple of levels!
Tom Koral raised to 600 from early position and received a call from the player in the big blind, who ended up check-calling a bet of 850 on the flop. Both players proceeded to check down the turn and river, prompting the big blind to reveal for king high.
Koral double checked his cards and then sent them to the muck, dropping to 44,000 in the process.
WSOPE bracelet winner, Tristan Wade, is continuing to gather chips. He played a hand against Kevin Tran and got two streets of value once he made the nuts.
The turn was out and the board read . Tran lead for 2,600 and called when Wade raised to 7,200. The river was and Tran checked to Wade who bet 5,100. Tran tank-called but mucked upon seeing the American's for a Broadway straight.
Tom "durrrr" Dwan just sat down at the feature table in Seat 9. The only other player we recognize at the table at the moment is Jackie Glazier. We're sure we'll have some updates from the table sooner than later.
We happened by Table 44 and noticed Jamie Pickering was missing. Kenna James informed us that he had recently been eliminated and gave us the details. According to James, a player in Seat 1 opened for 500 and was called by the player Seat 2 and Pickering. The latter two then called a bet of 1,200 on the flop, leading to the turn.
Seat 1 checked, Seat 2 bet 2,400, Pickering raised to 7,000, Seat 1 folded, and Seat 2 moved all in. Pickering called off his remaining 12,000 with and needed to improve against his opponent's . Unfortunately for Pickering, the river was a blank and he was eliminated from the tournament.
The rest of the world think us British people are a bit strange when we add milk to our tea, whereas we think it's quite normal.
I was a little annoyed when I overheard James Dempsey ordering black tea off a waitress. I told him he wasn't representing, and had spent too much time is Las Vegas. He didn't disagree.
I was happier seeing him take down a pot though. (not biased at all ;) ) There was a raise to 525 and a call before the British WSOP & WPT champion squeezed to 2,000 on the button. Both opponents folded.
