Selbst Doubles Through Quoss Who Then Doubles Through Watson

A short-stacked Vanessa Selbst got her stack of 26,200 all in preflop holding the {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and was racing against the {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} of Fabian Quoss. The {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades} flop wasn't much help to Selbst, though it did give her counterfeit outs.

That wouldn't matter, however, as the {A-Spades} spiked on the river to pair her aces. The {2-Hearts} blanked on the river and Selbst doubled through Quoss, who was left with just 6,000.

Not long after, the German moved all in from the cutoff for 5,700 with the {J-Spades}{10-Spades} and Mike Watson called from the button holding the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. The {3-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Spades} flop was gun for Quoss as it gave him a flush, and he successfully dodged another spade as the {A-Diamonds} appeared on the turn followed by the {7-Clubs} river. It was a small double, but it's a start.

Table 10 Counts

The Battle for Jason Supremacy

Jason Pritchard
Jason Pritchard

Action folded to Jason Mercier on the button and he raised to 4,000. Australian Jason Pritchard quickly called from the small blind, the big got out of the way, and it was heads-up action to the {5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop.

Pritchard proceeded to check-call a bet of 4,200, and the both players checked the {8-Clubs} turn. When the {Q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Pritchard checked and Mercier bet 11,700. Pritchard snap-called and Mercier confidently tabled {Q-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Unfortunately for him, and much to his surprise, it was no good as Pritchard held {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

Antonius has a Short Day Courtesy fo Shak

Well, it was a short and not so sweet stay for Patrik Antonius, who entered the tournament about 20 minutes ago.

We caught the action with 13,000 in the pot and a flop reading {J-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Antonius had bet 7,200 from the under-the-gun position, only to have Dan Shak, who made Andrew Robl the first elimination at the end of Level 3, raise to 20,000 from the hijack. Antonius thought for a moment before moving all in for about 70,000 more, and Shak made the call with {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flush draw, which he needed to hit in order to overcome the Finn's {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

That's exactly what Shak did as the {7-Clubs} rolled off on the turn, though Antonius could still win if the board paired on the river. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {9-Clubs}. "I'll see you in a few minutes," someone at the table said to Antonius, referencing the fact that he was likely to re-enter.

"No, no, no," Antonius responded. "That's enough for me."

"I'm sure you'll be back in a few minutes," Shak added with a smile. Whether or not Antonius returns remains to be seen, but for now he has exited the tournament area.

Queen on the River Saves SirWatts

We're not sure of the preflop action, but we do know that Mike "SirWatts" Watson was all in for 48,100 holding {A-}{Q-} and dominated by the {A-}{K-} of Fabian Quoss. The {J-}{7-}{2-} flop was of no consequence, and even though the {A-} turn paired both players, Quoss' king kicked had him out in front; in fact, Watson needed a queen on the river to stay alive. Wouldn't you know it, a {Q-} spiked and Watson kept his tournament hopes alive, while likely saving a $100,000 re-ebtry.

Good Start for Antonius

Patrik Antoius opened for 2,200 under the gun and received a call from Martin Finger in the cutoff. The rest of the field folded, the flop fell {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, and Finger called a bet of 3,200 from his Finnish foe.

Both players then checked the {8-Clubs} turn, and the {3-Spades} completed the board on the river. Antonius opted for another bet, this time 9,500, and it was enough to win as Finger folded without a word.

Trickett & Pritchard Even Up at 70K

Jason Pritchard opened for 2,300 from the hijack and received calls from Sam Trickett and Philipp Gruissem in the small and big blinds respectively. Trickett proceeded to take the initiative on the {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop by betting 3,100, Gruissem folded, but Pritchard came along for the ride.

When the {3-Hearts} turned, Trickett turned up the heat a bit with a bet of 8,300, and this time it worked as Pritchard sent his cards to the muck.

Pritchard Loves the Challenge

Level 4 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Jason Pritchard and Philipp Gruissem were involved in a bit of a conversation about their lives and what not, before Pritchard went on to say that he's not a professional poker player. He also claimed that he wasn't that good, but does like playing with the best.

In response, Gruissem looked around the table that contains Igor Kurganov, Tobias Reinkemeier, Sam Trickett, Jason Mercier and Winfred Yu, and said, "Well, I don't think you'll get a tougher table than this one anywhere."

Mercier looked around the table himself and said, "Yup, that's about right."
