Greenwood Doubles Through Mercier

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Sam Greenwood shoved for 103,000 from the cutoff and Jason Mercier in the big blind instantly called as soon as it was folded to him. Mercier showed his {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} right away and Greenwood showed the {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} like he had aces.

Mercier was in front but that wouldn't last long. The flop hit Greenwood about as good as it could and left Mercier just one direct out: {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. The {9-Spades} on the turn and {6-Diamonds} on the river weren't the card Mercier was looking for and Greenwood doubled.

Rossiter Busts; Holz First Over a Million

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Jeff Rossiter
Jeff Rossiter

Jeff Rossiter open-shipped under the gun for 79,000 and action folded to Fedor Holz, who called from the big blind.

Rossiter: {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Holz: {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Rossiter was behind but drawing to two live cards, and the {9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop looked decent enough as he picked up an open-ended straight draw. The {2-Spades} turn wasn't what he was looking for, and neither was the {4-Hearts} river. Rossiter missed and was eliminated from the tournament by Holz's king-high.

Peters Gets Lucky to Stay Alive

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

David Peters open-shoved all in for 53,000 from the hijack and Jeff Rossiter moved all in over the top from the small blind, which prompted Jason Mercier to fold from the big.

Rossiter: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Peters: {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Peters was in a tough spot, but he received help when the {10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop delivered him the lead with a pair of jacks. Rossiter could still win with the case nine and chop with an eight, but neither the {4-Diamonds} turn nor {6-Clubs} river were either.

Holz Busts Jacobson in Monster Pot to Jump Up the Counts

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

Fedor Holz raised to 16,000 from the button and was met by a three-bet to 50,000 by Martin Jacobson in the small blind. Jeff Rossiter folded from the big, Holz four-bet to 121,000, and Jacobson five-bet hammed for 455,000. Holz, who barely had him covered, made the call and seemed a bit squeamish upon seeing the cards.

Holz: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Jacobson: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

It was a big flip, but not after the {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop gave Holz a set. The {8-Hearts} turn left Jacobson drawing dead, and he made a hasty exit from the tournament floor after the {7-Spades} was put out on the river.

Drinan Doubles Steicke

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Connor Drinan and David Steicke got it in preflop for a total pot of about 219,000. Drinan was trialing with {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} as Steicke tabled {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Steicke was left with just 90,000 or so.

Brian Rast Eliminated

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Brian Rast

Ben Tollerene opened with {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} from early position making it 14,000. Mike McDonald three-bet to 40,000 with {A-Spades}{5-Spades} right next to him.

Brian Rast in the cutoff cold four-bet shoved for 199,000 with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. Tollerene announced all in as well (for 615,000) and McDonald got out of the way quickly.

The board came {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} eliminating Brian Rast. Ben Tollerene in the meanwhile, has about a quarter of the chips in play already.

Quoss Folds Tens

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Fabian Quoss opened to 14,000 from the button. Byron Kaverman in the big blind made the call with {Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The flop came {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{A-Clubs} and Kaverman checked with his two pair. Quoss checked behind and the {6-Spades} on the turn was checked by both as well. The {3-Clubs} fell on the river and Kaverman bet 32,000 into the 39,000 pot. Quoss quickly folded his {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Three Streets of Action

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Two of the shorter stacks in the tournament just played a hand against each other. Sam Greenwood limped in from the small blind and David Peters in the big blind checked his option.

Greenwood then lead out for 9,000 on {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Peters made the call. Greenwood bet another 20,000 on the {Q-Clubs} turn and Peters again called.

The river came the {6-Diamonds} and Greenwood bet 60,000 with just 4,000 behind. Peters had only 70,000 or so behind, and eventually in one of the last seconds of his time bank he folded.

Quoss Shoves on Drinan

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

With 47,000 in the pot and a board reading {6-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Connor Drinan checked from the small blind and then called a bet of 45,000 from Fabian Quoss, who was on the button. When the {4-Spades} completed the board on the river, Drinan checked and Quoss moved all in for 133,000.

Drinan hit the tank using one of his time bank chips, and eventually folded the {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. It was a good thing he did as Quoss had the best hand with the {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}.
