Levy Fails to Make the Dinner Break

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Grant Levy
Grant Levy

On our last pass through the outer room we noticed Grant Levy was no longer in his seat. A quick check with Russell Thomas, who actually scored the knockout, confirmed that Levy had fallen a bit earlier in the level.

As Thomas told it, Levy had opened for 700 from early position and Thomas defended the big blind with {q-}{10-}. The flop came down {10-}{7-}{3-}, Thomas checked, and Levy bet 1,100, which left him just 3,000 or so behind.

Thomas responded by check-raising all in and Levy called off holding pocket nines. Neither the turn nor river helped Levy, and he made his way to the exit.

Holyoke Gets a Nice Rush

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Edward Holyoke
Edward Holyoke

From the hijack seat, Anthony March raised to 750. Edward Holyoke reraised from the cutoff seat to 2,225, and Thomas Muehloecker put in a cold four-bet to 5,350 from the big blind. March folded, but Holyoke had other things in mind and five-bet to 14,000. After a little bit of thought, Muehloecker came back with an all-in shove for a little over 37,000. Holyoke took a few moments, then called, and put himself at risk for 32,225.

Muehloecker had the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and he was ahead of Holyoke had the {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

The flop came down {J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and vaulted Holyoke into the lead with top set of jacks. The {3-Hearts} on the turn and the {K-Spades} on the river kept Holyoke in front, and he earned the double up.

Then, on the next hand, March raised to 750 from middle position to kick things off once again. Holyoke three-bet to 2,250 from the hijack seat, and play folded back to March. He called, and the flop came down {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. March checked, Holyoke bet 3,000, and March called.

The turn was the {10-Spades} to pair the board, and both players checked to see the {J-Spades} complete the board on the river. March led with a bet of 3,500, and Holyoke made the call.

March showed the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, but his hand was no good against the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for Holyoke.

As if those two hands weren't enough of a rush for Holyoke, he played the next hand as well and won his third pot in a row. This time he was against Angelina Rich, but the pot didn't go to a showdown.

Holyoke had opened from middle position to 750, and Rich called from the big blind to take the {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. After Rich checked, Holyoke bet 1,000. Rich called.

The turn paired the board with the {2-Hearts}, and both players checked to see the {K-Clubs} complete the board on the river. Rich checked, Holyoke bet 3,500, and Rich folded.

Zellweger Takes Charge

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We just saw Chance Kornuth involved in a pot where the board read {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}. When we arrived on the scene Kornuth had 10,000 out in front of him, and the action was on Patrick Zellweger, seated on his direct left with 5,000 invested.

After a while Zellweger called, and the river brought the {6-Diamonds}. Kornuth now bet 11,000 and Zellweger called immediately. Kornuth showed {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a straight, and that lost against Zellweger's {6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

After wandering off to an adjacent table, we caught Zellweger in another pot, which could've been the very next hand. The board read {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{Q-Clubs} when a player ended up all in holding {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} versus Zellweger's {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. The river was the {7-Clubs}, and Zellweger boosted his stack to 130,000, which is the current tournament chip lead.

Abernathy on the Up and Up

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

After a player in early position raised to 800 action folded to Samantha Abernathy in the big blind. She defended and then both players checked the {6-Spades} turn as well as the {J-Hearts} river. That's when Abernathy bet 1,100, which did the trick as her opponent folded.

That was a small pot, but just one of many Abernathy has collected as of late. As you can see, she's nearly doubled her stack in the last 30 minutes.

Mason Rivers Two Pair

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

As we walked up to Chance Kornuth's new table (he had been moved and had brought 67,000 in chips with him), we saw a big pot brewing. The board read {3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Ashley Mason (small blind) and his opponent (big blind) sat there in silence for a moment.

Ashley "DYBYDX" Mason, SCOOP 2011 High Roller champion for $430,000, bet out 5,500. His neighbor instantly called, but couldn't beat Mason's {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for the rivered two pair. The big blind open mucked his {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs} with a disgusted look on his face, and had to leave the pot to Mason.

Kaverman Doubles Through Sylvia

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Jesse Sylvia just raised before the flop and got one caller, on the button, before Byron Kaverman moved all in from the big blind for 6,950. Sylvia tanked for quite some time before calling, and the player on the button folded.

Sylvia: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Kaverman: {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Kaverman was granted another chance in this event.
