Prasad on the Rise

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jay Prasad is on the rise after taking down another big pot.

On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts} Prasad bet 3,000 and was called by his opponent.

The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and Prasad tossed out 4,500. His opponent quickly obliged.

The {q-Diamonds} completed the board and Prasad placed out 5,500. His opponent paused for a moment before raising to 18,500. Prasad snap called.

Prasad then watched as his opponent tabled {8-Spades}{9-Spades} for nine-high. Prasad then flipped over {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} for two pair and the winning hand.

Benson Busted

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Gary Benson just lost everything but half an ante to Jason Gray before being eliminated the very next hand.

Gray moved all in for 18,225 preflop and Benson made the call to put him at risk.

Benson: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Gray: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

It was Gray with the superior hand and he improved further after spiking top set on the {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. While the {k-Diamonds} turn meant another king on the river would see Benson take the lead, the {3-Spades} river completed the board to decimate Benson’s stack.

Left with just a single 25-denomination chip Benson was forced all in the following hand and couldn’t recover.

Gorr Back From the Dead

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Reports of David Gorr’s demise may have been a little premature as he is now sitting in seat five of table thirty-one. We’re not sure where he has been hiding prior to this but Gorr is sitting on around 40,000.

Obst On The Comeback Trail

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst finished 11th in this event last year, and while he has had a rough last couple of levels, his stack is now moving in the right direction again.

On a paired board of {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} both of the players in the blinds checked it over to Obst in the cutoff. The pot was already approximately 6,500 and Obst pushed his last 6,375 into the middle.

The small blind checked and rechecked his cards between studying the board but after a minute he gave it up. The big blind looked like he wanted to commit the chips and tried to get some information from Obst verbally. The two traded some banter back and forth before the big blind decided against putting Obst at risk.

“I’ll fold my pocket nines” said the big blind flashing his hand.

Obst collected the pot and moved back up to around 12,900.

Prasad Bets Enough

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

On a flop of {7-Spades}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} Jay Prasad checked over to his opponent on the button who placed out a 2,000-chip bet. Prasad called and both players watched the {3-Hearts} drop on the turn.

Prasad then led out for 4,000 and was matched a minute later.

The {j-Hearts} completed the board and Prasad stalled for a moment before sliding out 12,000. His opponent agonized over his decision before reluctantly mucking his hand.

Post Break Chip Counts

Kornuth Climbs a Little Higher

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Chance Kornuth established himself as one of the frontrunners here in Level 4 and he continues adding to that big stack after taking down another hand.

We caught the action on the turn with the board reading {9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Rory Young led for 1,200 into three opponents. He picked up two callers before the action fell to Kornuth on the button. Kornuth wanted to play for more and bumped it up to a relatively sizable 6,000.

Young and the other two players didn’t hesitate long before throwing their hands away and yet another pot was sent Kornuth’s way.

Warne With the Miss Hit

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

On a board reading {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} Shane Warne bet out 2,300 as the decision fell on his opponent. He opted to move all in for 11,675 which sent Warne into the tank for a minute. He then called and the cards were tabled.

Warne: {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Opponent: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}

Warne had a chance to spike a five on the river to take down the hand with a straight, but the card wouldn't come, as the {j-Spades} completed the board awarding his opponent the double-up with a set of fours needed to stay alive in the tournament.
