Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

The remaining 16 runners are on a 75-minute dinner break with play resuming at 9:50 pm local time.

Aldemir Trumps MacDonnell

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Marc MacDonnell raised to 53,000 from the hijack and was called by Koray Aldemir and Shurane Vijayaram in the blinds.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and all three players checked.

The turn brought the {6-Spades} and Aldemir sat motionless for a few minutes before betting out 145,000. Vijayaram folded shortly after as the decision fell on MacDonnell. He took almost a minute to make the call.

The {j-Spades} completed the board and once again Aldemir tanked for a minute then cut out a bet totalling 195,000. MacDonnell sat in his seat agonising over his decision before reluctantly calling.

Aldemir then tabled {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for trip nines and took down the large pot after MacDonnell mucked his hand.

Nicholas Dixon Eliminated in 17th Place (AUD$80,000)

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Nicholas Dixon
Nicholas Dixon

The action folded around to Nicholas Dixon in the small blind who moved all in for 319,000. Seth Davies then quickly called from the big blind.

Davies: {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Dixon: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Both players had told each other that they went all in after only looking down at an ace. When Dixon revealed his jack and saw he was infront he jumped from his chair and high-fived his rail in delight.

Unfortunately, the excitement wouldn't last long as the board ran out {q-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} to see Davies spike a four on the flop, taking down the pot with a pair, sending a gracious Dixon to the rail to collect his highest prize to date.

Rossiter Rakes One

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Jeff Rossiter is approaching the 2.5 million-chip mark after taking down a sizable pot.

On a flop of {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} Rossiter led into two players from the small blind for 90,000. Both Luke Roberts and Nicholas Wright called from the big blind and button respectively before the dealer turned the {2-Hearts}.

Rossiter fired again, this time for 210,000, but Roberts played back at him for a total of 450,000. Wright quickly tossed his hand away and after Rossiter called, the {6-Diamonds} rolled off on the river.

The action went check check and Roberts tabled {10-Clubs}{2-Spades} for three of a kind. That was no good, however, as Rossiter revealed {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for a flopped set that had improved to a full house on the turn.

Aldemir Doubles Through Macdonnell

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Nino Marotta was first to act and opened to 52,000. His neighbor Marc Macdonnell called and so did Peter Aristidou on the button. Small blind Koray Aldemir shoved for 438,000 and the big blind folded. Marotta asked for a count but folded after some minutes in the tank. Macdonnell called, Aristidou folded.

Marc Macdonnell: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Koray Aldemir: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

Marotta told someone on the rail he had ace-queen as the dealer got underway dealing the flop. It came {J-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades}, helping Aldemir in front. The {6-Clubs} on the turn and {4-Hearts} on the river were blanks and Aldemir doubled.

Artur Koren Eliminated in 18th Place (AUD$80,000)

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Artur Koren
Artur Koren

A short-stacked Artur Koren became the architect of his own demise after opening the action with a raise to 100,000 from middle position. Chip leader Mustapha Kanit asked Koren how much more he had behind (28,000) before making the call from the button and the rest of the table got out of the way.

Koren moved all-in for the last of his chips on the monochrome {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop and Kanit quickly called.

Artur Koren: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Mustapha Kanit: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Koren’s second pair was in front and the German player just needed to fade a diamond to stay alive. The {9-Clubs} turn kept Koren’s hopes alive but the {9-Diamonds} river completed Kanit’s flush and Koren’s Aussie Millions Main Event run comes to an end.

Vijayaram's Stack is Growing

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Ben Heath opened for 54,000 and Koray Aldemir called from the button. Shurane Vijayaram called in the small blind and Nino Marotta called from the big blind.

Action checked to Aldemir on {8-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and he bet 88,000. Vijayaram called, Marotta and Heath folded.

The {2-Hearts} on the turn saw Vijayaram check again. Aldemir bet 200,000 with about 665,000 behind. Vijayaram leaned over, counted Aldemir's stack, and shoved all in.

Aldemir was all smiles, intrigued by what had just happened. He eventually laid down his hand and, despite encouragements from Aldemir and Heath for Vijayaram to show, the latter's cards ended up face down in the muck.

Some Updated Chip Counts

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Sam Ruha Eliminated in 19th Place (AUD$60,000)

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Sam Ruha
Sam Ruha

Sam Ruha has hit the rail after a good call went bad when he was run down by Koray Aldemir.

It folded to Aldemir in the small blind and he moved all in with enough to cover Ruha’s last 280,000. Ruha leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms before sliding in a call.

Ruha: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Aldemir: {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Ruha had the lead until the {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop saw Aldemir spike middle pair. By the {7-Hearts} turn Ruha was drawing dead before the inconsequential {4-Clubs} arrived on the river to make his elimination official.
