Kornuth Eliminated

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Chance Kornuth got in a raising war with Dan Barry preflop after making it 1,700 on a three-bet out of the small blind. Barry came back with 5,550 and Kornuth jammed for about 15,000. Barry called with {a-}{a-} and that was bad news for the former $25K Challenge winner, who had {k-}{k-}. The board brought no salvation and he bowed out.

Not Much Happening Yet for Thomas

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

On the three-way turn of {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, Russell Thomas bet 2,000 into two opponents and picked up one call. The {9-Hearts} fell on the river to complete a possible back door flush and Thomas slowed down with a check. He immediately faced a bet worth 4,000 and tried some table chat to get any information before giving up the pot.

Chan Finds Plenty of Action

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Andy Chan opened in late position and got three-bet to 1,500 by the small blind before Ludovic Geilich cold-called in the big. Chan fired in 4,925 and both players called, Geilich after some tanking. The flop came {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Chan bet 4,500 when checked to. The small blind put in 11,000 or so, Geilich folded, and Chan called off his last 5,000.

Chan: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Small blind: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

Chan held on the {6-Diamonds} turn and {j-Clubs} river.

The next hand, Chan won some bonus chips after flatting an early open and seeing {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop. The opener check-called 650 and then 800 more on the {8-Spades} turn before giving up to a 2,000 bet on the {7-Hearts} river.

At the same table, we noted Mark Vos, one of the most prominent Aussie players from the boom years, with a stack of around 20,000.

Toma Empties the Clip

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

With three people paying 1,400 each to see a {5-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop, it was on Tsugunari Toma who bet another 1,400. Only one of the opponents stuck around.

Toma bet 2,300 on the {4-Diamonds} turn and got another call. On the {10-Spades} river, Toma fired 8,000 and his opponent folded.

Some Value for Wasylenko

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Federico Butteroni scooped a big pot with set over set and his opponent was forced into an expensive fold to see the Italian and former WSOP Main Event finalist boost his stack to more than two times of what he started with.

On the same table is also Eric Wasylenko, who just got some value out of two pair with {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} on a queen-high board. The river bet of the Canadian was called for 1,500 and his opponent mucked.

Vijayaram Deep in the Tank

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

A player raised and got one caller before Shurane Vijayaram three-bet to 2,200 from the button, and both players called.

The flop of {3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{q-Hearts} was checked to Vijayaram who bet 3,700. The first player folded but the second check-min-raised to 7,400 and Vijayaram called.

The turn brought the {k-Spades} and Vijayaram watched his opponent bet 12,300. The defending champion went deep in the tank.

"Show if I fold?" he asked. "I don't like folding that's the thing."

Eventually, he did fold, and the inquiry as to what both players had begun. Vijayaram is still just above starting stack.

Berkey Wastes No Time

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Matt Berkey recently entered the tournament and hasn't been shy about mixing it up. In one of the first hands we saw him play, he called an open from late-position Upeshka De Silva and a player in the blinds came along for a {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop. De Silva bet 625 and Berkey popped it to 2,300, earning him the pot without further resistance.
