Up and Down for Ragozzini; Marquez Eliminated, Quoss Doubles Up

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We spotted Ana Marquez on the rail and she told us that she had raised to 2,000 from the cutoff, Brian Yoon had three-bet to 5,500 from the small blind and Sean Ragozzini four-bet to 15,000 from the big blind. Marquez only had 16,000 behind and moved all on. Yoon folded. Marquez held {j-}{j-} but was up against the {a-}{a-} of Ragozzini, and with no help coming on the board, she was eliminated.

Heading over to see how many chips Ragozzini had, he was involved in an all in with Fabian Quoss for the German's last 11,300 chips.

Sean Ragozzini: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Fabian Quoss: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Quoss flopped a pair on the {7-Spades}{q-Spades}{j-Spades} board, but Ragozzini was still in the lead. Quoss improved to trips on the {q-Clubs} turn, but Ragozzini could still hit a spade on the river to eliminate another player. Fortunately for Quoss it was the {4-Hearts} and he doubled up.

Holz Gets River Value

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Fedor Holz bet 5,500, close to the size of the pot, against two players who checked from the blinds on {4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. The small blind called and the big blind mucked. The turn brought a {10-Spades} and two checks. On the {q-Clubs} river. the small blind checked and Holz bet 10,200 after a minute of thought. The small blind quickly tossed in a call but couldn't beat {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Karamalikis Busts A Shorty

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

At the same table where Daiva Byrne just doubled with aces against eights, it was now Jonathan Karamalikis who held the blades. Pasquale Ragozzino was the one at risk with pocket eights this time.

"Of course," Ragozzino grumbled upon seeing the showdown. The {7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} rundown provided no help as Ragozzino's {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} didn't contain the club and he was eliminated.

Barer Can't Hit the Freeroll

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Ami Barer put a short stack at risk with {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and was looking at a likely chop as he was against {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. The {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts} brought a sweat but the board bricked out and Barer pulled his chips back with a smile.

"It Is Never Easy"

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Daiva Byrne

Dinesh Velupillay looked up the shove of Sarah Bilney for 12,600 on a flop of {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and tabled {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} out of the big blind. Bilney had the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and held up thanks to the {6-Clubs} turn and {K-Diamonds} river.

Jordan Westmorland was all in after a flop of {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Tony Shlemon check-called from the big blind.

Jordan Westmorland: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Tony Shlemon: {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Neither the {K-Spades} turn nor the {8-Hearts} brought a diamond or one of his two over cards for Westmorland and he quickly left the tournament area.

Daiva Byrne jammed for 10 big blinds on the button and Yin Liu in the big blind called.

Daiva Byrne: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Yin Liu: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Dara O'Kearney, who had his aces cracked earlier to bust, was on the rail and stepped closer to see the showdown. The board ran out {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Byrne dodged an additional straight draw to remain in contention, dragging in the pot with a smile and the words "It is never easy."

Dream River for Stuer

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A player in the big blind bet 16,000 on a completed board of {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Julian Stuer made it 38,000 in the cutoff and his opponent tanked briefly and then called. Stuer showed {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a full house on the river and his irritated opponent slapped down {a-}{j-}.

Former WSOP Champion Jacobson Thinks Aussie Millions Could Get "Way, Way Bigger"

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

It's not 2014 WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobson's first trip Down Under for the Aussie Millions, with three cashes and two final tables in the $25,000 Challenge and $100,000 Challenge on his poker resume, and the Swede is definitely having a blast on Day 2 of the Main Event.

"It's gone pretty good," said Jacobson during the first break. "I doubled up! I love it here. It's my favorite city. I've come here five times and I just love Melbourne as a city!

"The food is awesome and it's the perfect time of the year to come here with the tennis, and the fact that it's summer here and winter back home!"

We asked Jacobson what his thoughts about the venue are, and why so many people love the Aussie Millions as a festival.

"I love the Crown; this event is just such a great tournament. It's great that [the Main Event] keeps growing. There have been solid numbers over the last couple of years.

"It's a little bit bigger this year; without any online satellites! If they would partner up with a poker site it could get way, way bigger."

Davies Eliminates Panzica

Sam Panzica
Sam Panzica

Scott Davies opened to 2,200 on the button and Sam Panzica defended his big blind.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and Panzica check-called a bet of 2,000 from Davies. Panzica repeated the action for a bet of 6,300 on the {10-Clubs} turn.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Panzica checked a third time. Davies bet 40,000, covering Panzica's remaining stack of around 20,000. Eventually, Panzica called.

Davies showed {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for two pair, which was good, with Panzica's cards going directly into the muck. Panzica was eliminated in the second level of the day.
