Bicknell Eliminated

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

At Kristen Bicknell's table the two-time bracelet winner's seat was empty. Someone explained to us that she got her remaining 13,000 chips in the middle with {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} against the {a-}{k-} of an opponent.

Despite two hearts on the flop, the board bricked out and she was eliminated.

Gan Is Gone in Brutal Fashion

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

James Hopkins raised to 2,500 from early position and Wan Gan flat-called in the small blind only for Cale Treacy to three-bet to 7,500. Both Hopkins and Gan called to see a three-way flop of {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, which brought a continuation bet worth 9,000 by Treacy. Hopkins called and Gan check-raised all in for 45,000 to force out Treacy, Hopkins called with the superior stack.

Wan Gan: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
James Hopkins: {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {9-Clubs} turn brought gasps on the table as Gan got there, only for his hopes to be crushed right after on the {J-Clubs} river, triggering "wowww's" from the table.

Lukas Soucek
Lukas Soucek

Lukas Soucek raised from the button and called the shove of a shorter stack with {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} to find himself up against the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. The board came {K-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} gave Soucek a pair of kings and he sent the big blind to the rail. Also missing from this very table is Oliver Weis, while Neel Murthy vanished, too.

Joe Hachem

After an early open to 2,000 and a call, Joe Hachem put his last 7,000 in. Marc MacDonnell four-bet to isolate in the big blind and everyone else folded.

Hachem: {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
MacDonnell: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Hachem saw an ugly {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Spades} flop and turned his cards over after the {9-Hearts} turn.

Aces Versus Kings Versus Queens

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There was a lot of commotion over at table 2, where three hands were tabled in the mother of all setups.

Michael Rosenfield: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Cole Swannack: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Adrian Indovino: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The worst hand ended up with the best of it as the board ran out {8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Clubs}. Indovino, who had the shortest stack, tripled up. Rosenfield had 34,600 left after paying Indovino and doubled those through Swannack.

Klatt Sends Speranza on the Rail

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Andreas Klatt
Andreas Klatt

Andreas Klatt won a bracelet at the 2017 World Series of Poker in Europe and a few days later, Gianluca Speranza finished second in the Main Event at the very same location at King's Casino in Rozvadov. Both ended up on the same table on Day 2 here in Melbourne and just clashed with almost identical stacks.

Speranza defended his big blind against a raise by Klatt and check-called a bet on the {J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop. On the {10-Hearts} turn, Speranza checked again and Klatt bet 10,000. After some consideration, Speranza check-raised all in for 41,000 and Klatt called with the slightly superior stack.

Gianluca Speranza: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Andreas Klatt: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The {Q-Spades} on the river was a blank and the Italian was left empty-handed.

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Byrne raised to 2,100 in the cutoff and Jonathan Karamalikis three-bet to 6,300. Byrne shoved for around 24 big blinds and Karamalikis called.

Daiva Byrne: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Jonathan Karamalikis: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The board came {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and the two pair on the board ensured a split pot.
