Meritan Hero-Calls Against Lew
Every so often, a player makes it clear that they are very pleased with a hand that they have played. Luc Meritan approached the media tables with a story of a big hand involving him and Randy Lew.
A big stack opened to 2,500. Randy Lew called and Meritan called in the small blind. The flop came

"It looked like he was pretending that he was huge when he was not huge" Meritan told us. "I felt like I had the best hand."
Meritan had 70,000 left so he was calling for a large percentage of his remaining chips. In the end he did so with

"It's a very gutsy play," said Meritan. "I knew he was good enough to do it. If it was an amateur I don't call. It was definitely 'nanonoko fame'-dependent."
