Edwards Chips Up Through Tedeschi

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Both Matt Edwards and Paul-Francois Tedeschi have gone in opposite directions since the start of Day 2.

In this hand, Edwards opened to 2,300 from the cutoff and Tedeschi three-bet to 6,900. Edwards called and the flop came {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Edwards check-called 6,500 and the pair both checked the {10-Diamonds} turn. Edwards then bet 16,000 on the {9-Hearts} river and Tedeschi quickly called.

The Brit turned over {q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for a rivered straight and Tedeschi mucked.

"I just thought I'll peel the flop," Edwards said to the table. "And then the turn came and I was like 'Oooooo!'"

Piiroinen Doubles Through Taylor

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Diamonds} both Clinton Taylor and Riku Piiroinen exchanged several raises until the latter was all in for 64,500 and was matched.

Riku Piiroinen: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Clinton Taylor: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Piiroinen was at risk after flopping top two pair but trailing Taylor's flopped set of eights.

Fortunately the turn brought the {k-Spades} and Piiroinen rocketed to the lead with a higher full house.

The meaningless {a-Diamonds} completed the board and Piiroinen raked in the massive double up.

Aldemir Doubles His Opponent

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With 15,000 in the pot and the flop showing {7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} the player in the big blind checked his option followed by Koray Aldemir in middle position. The player on the button then bet 5,000 and was called by the big blind. Aldemir then raised it up to 15,700 forcing the button out. The big blind called.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and the big blind checked. Aldemir reached for his chips and splashed out 30,000 which had his opponent's 19,300-stack covered. A minute passed before the player in the big blind reluctantly made the call.

Aldemir tabled {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a straight and flush draw but trialled his opponent who held {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for two pair.

The {q-Spades} on the river didn't change anything and the player in the big blind doubled up through Aldemir.

Theakstone Busts a Player

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Andrew Theakstone held {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and was up against the pocket fours of an opponent.

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Spades} with the queen on the river somehwat of an overkill as Theakstone boosted his stack up over 120,000 in chips.

"Bad flop for queens," muttered someone at the table.

Swannack Rising

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

In a preflop raising war over on table eight, Cole Swannack had an opponent at risk for more than 110,000 and held the best of it preflop with {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} versus {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. The board came {J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and the pot was shipped to Swannack.

The start-of-the-day chip leader has increased his stack by quite some margin, but still trails Farid Jattin. Further big stacks on the same table include Michael Soyza and Andrian Chin.

Sylvia Takes One Down

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The player under the gun plus one raised to 2,500 and was called by the player in the hijack as well as Jesse Sylvia in the big blind.

All three players checked the {8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop before the {6-Hearts} dropped on the turn.

Sylvia bet out 6,000 which saw the original raiser fold. The hijack came along.

Both players then opted to check after the {9-Diamonds} completed the board.

Sylvia tabled his {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for two pair and took down the pot after his opponent mucked his hand.

Jattin Back Above 300,000

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Farid Jattin was up over 300,000 at one point, but at a tough table alongside Michael Soyza, Bryn Kenney and Dzmitry Urbanovich he had slipped down somewhat.

Jattin checked a {j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop to former Main Event champion Tyron Krost who bet 3,000. Jattin check-raised to 11,700 and Krost called.

The turn was the {k-Clubs}. Jattin bet 14,400 and was called.

The river was the {2-Spades}. Jattin bet 29,900 and after a short tank, Krost folded. That puts Jattin's stack back above 300,000.
