Runner-Runner Keeps Bell in It

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
David Bell
David Bell

Action was picked up with the board showing KJ2 and roughly 15,000 in the pot.

David Bell was all in for 39,500, with Farhad Mohajerani putting him at risk.

David Bell: 97 All in
Farhad Mohajerani: J6

When the cards were flipped over Bell said "I can't win this one" as Mohajerani had a pair of jacks above Bell's two cards, and the better flush draw. But once the 10 hit on the turn, Mohajerani said "Now you have a chance" as Bell picked up a double gut-shot straight draw.

The Q on the river brought that draw right in for Bell, to give him the double up.

Tran Takes the Change

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Ismail Refikoglu had a brutal battle in the blinds that saw their stack go down to just 6,500.

Ismail Refikoglu: 66All in
Big Blind: AJ

Refikoglu was ahead on the QK5 flop, althought the big blind had picked up a straight draw. There was no change on the 8 turn but the A river saw Refikoglu pass across the majority of his stack.

A few hand later, Chris Tran open-jammed for around 25,000 and Refikoglu moved in his last few big blinds.

Chris Tran: K9

It was the end of the road for Refikoglu after seeing a king come on the J734K river, sending him to the rail.

Tran collected the change and sat back with around half a starting stack.

Former Champion Stavropoulos: "Show Me Someone Who Predicted This, I'll Show You a Liar"

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Manny Stavropoulos
Manny Stavropoulos

2015 Aussie Millions Main Event champion Manny Stavropoulos is as astounded by the numbers in this year's Aussie Millions Main Event.

"Anyone who would have said we'd get these numbers for the Main Event - show me that person and I'll show you a liar," he said to PokerNews on break in the Main Event. "Nobody predicted this."

Eleven years ago, Stavropoulos defeated a 648-player field to win A$1,385,500.

"It's a long time ago now," he said. "Crossed over the decade mark now so definitely a while ago. Those 10-11 years are really hard, because we didn't have everything since 2020, right? So it's 11 years but it's more like six years."

Like many, he's just glad the festival is back.

"It's good that the Aussie Millions is back. There are a lot of poker events on these days. Every weekend there's now an event of some kind, but I don't need to say anymore; just look at the numbers."

No Double for Giddey

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Josh Giddey
Josh Giddey

Jun Wen Ooi opened to 6,000 from middle position and Josh Giddey three-bet jammed for 52,500 from the cutoff.

Action went back to Ooi who took around 20-seconds before making the call.

Josh Giddey: KQ All in
Jun Wen Ooii: AK

Giddey was behind and looked to the flop for some help.

There was no real sweat when the dealer fanned the 3J2 flop.

It was the end of the road for Giddey after seeing the 9 turn and 6 river complete the board.

Jehu Running on Fumes

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Early position opened to 5,500 and Liam Jehu called on the button. Both the blinds folded, and the players went heads up to the 27J flop.

Early position bet out 4,000 and Jehu called, taking the action to the A turn.

Jehu called another 8,000 bet, to see the 6 river but gave up the pot after facing at 15,000 bet by his opponent.

His cards were thrown into the muck and after a few hands, Jehu tried to discuss with his opponent what he had been holding. There was no clear answer and Jehu was left with around ten big blind to play with.

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Manny Stavropoulos limped from the small blind and Sung Cho defended the big blind.

The 48J flop was checked by Stavropoulos and Cho bet out 3,000. Stavropoulos called, and the players saw the 8 turn.

Stavropoulos checked, Cho bet 6,000 and Stavropoulos gave up, taking him further down in the counts and further from securing another Aussie Millions Main Event Title.
