At least four former champions are still in action on Day 2 of the Main Event, including 2011 champion David Gorr who has more than doubled his stack since the start of the day.

Meanwhile, defending champion Vincent Wan has been eliminated after what he called "a tough day of ups and downs."

"It was fun though," he said on Facebook. "Hopefully can do well in some of the remaining side events. Good luck to whoever is still in and may the best man win!"

Zenonos's Defense Gets Rewarded

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Players were already heads up and on a 6710 flop with Christopher Zenonos all in from the big blind for his remaining 20,500. Ryo Matsubara was sitting in a middle position and had already bet 10,000 on the flop. He quickly topped up to call and cover Zenonos.

Christopher Zenonos: 75All in

Ryo Matsubara: K10

Zenonos had flopped a pair of sevens, and a backdoor straight and flush draw. Matsubara was still ahead with a pair of tens, but that all changed on the 7 turn.

Zenonos locked the double after seeing the 8 fall on the river, and he kept his seat in the main event.

After the hand, Zenonos remarked "Gotta defend seven-five when short stacked".

Ajez Leaves Attenborough Short; Attenborough Out Next Hand

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Najeem Ajez
Najeem Ajez

Action was picked up by PokerNews on a board of J10K36, where Tristan Wade was already in the tank, facing a jam from Adrian Attenborough of 111,500, with Najeem Ajez on the button still to act.

After another three minutes, the clock was called on Wade. He used his full allotment of 30 seconds before tossing his cards into the muck.

Ajez snap-called, turning over AQ. Attenborough tabled his 99, which was no good against the flopped broadway of Ajez, who doubled up to just over 300,000.

"If only you knew what I folded," remarked Wade after the hand, telling the table that he'd folded a set.

In the following hand, Attenborough got his remaining 15,000 in the middle pre-flop holding AJ against the A10 of Gary Fisher. The flop of 89J left Fisher open-ended. The 2 river provided Fisher no help, but the 7 sent Attenborough to the rail.
