Payne Checks It Back; Hogan Climbing

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Just a short while ago, Nick Raio was down to the felt and at risk for just a few thousand. In the last few levels he has climbed his way back up to over 100,000.

Action was heads-up with over 60,000 in the pot and {j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} on the board when Raio checked and Tyler Payne went into the tank.

After a few moments, Payne spoke up.

"This might be the weakest check back in history," Payne said as he looked at the board, Raio's stack, and his own.

Payne checked and the cards were turned up. Raio had ace-high, but Payne showed {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} to take the pot with queens and jacks.

Elsewhere in the room, Ryan Hogan has 264,000

Toni Fiorenza
Toni Fiorenza

Thomas Carroll raised to 5,500 from the button and Toni Fiorenza called from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and action was heads-up.

The flop was {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Fiorenza check-called a 5,000 bet from Carroll. The turn was {7-Diamonds}.

Both players checked the turn to see {q-Clubs} on the river. Fiorenza immediately tossed out 10,000.

"I have the {6-}," said Carroll as he looked over at Fiorenza in the next seat.

"I can't wait for you to see these cards," Fiorenza fired back with a smile.

Carroll called and Fiorenza turned over {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for the flopped straight. Carroll tapped the table and threw the losing hand in the muck.

Davis Above 200K After Double KO

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

William Davis was seem taking in a big pot while two of his opponents were gathering their things to leave the tournament area.

Davis had {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} showing and the board read {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. The set of aces was good for Davis to take a pot that moved him about the 200,000 mark.

Lee Charging; Chau and Payne in His Wake

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

With a big pot near 100,000 and {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{2-Clubs} on the board, Jason Lee bet 55,000 from the small blind and the player in the big blind folded to give up the pot. It was another pot in the latest run for Lee, as he has taken control of the leaderboard in the last two levels.

Elsewhere at the table, Tyler Payne and Chanthou Chau are also building big stacks as Day 1a enters its final stages.

Fold of the Century

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Raminder Singh
Raminder Singh

Thomas Carroll raised to 5,000 from early position and Raminder Singh three-bet to 17,000 from the small blind. Carroll went into the tank for a few moments and counted out some of his chips before he went all in for 83,000. Singh leaned back to consider his options.

"I don't want a call, but I'll take one," Carroll said as Singh thought it over. "Or I might have aces."

Singh was covered and the call was for his tournament life, but he ultimately got away from his {j-}{j-}.

Carroll smiled and turned over {a-}{a-} and Singh breathed a sigh of relief while Carroll took a pot that brought him back over 100,000.
