One Bet All that Khan Needs

You'd think, in a five-way pot, that more than one bet would go into the pot after the flop. That might not be true if the bet comes from Hevad Khan. Khan was one of four players to call a preflop raise of 350 chips, and the one in the best position for doing so. All players checked through a flop of {J-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {A-Diamonds}. Action again checked to Khan when the board paired on the turn, {J-Hearts}. His bet of 800 chips, about half the pot, folded each of the other players in turn.

Like His Hand, Golser Busto

Markus Golser showed up to today's event sporting a cast on his hand after a skiing accident at the PokerNews Cup Alpine event earlier this month. His tournament fortunes today didn't fare any better than his hand. He was one of two players to call a preflop raise, in position, to 300. The flop came down {Q-Spades} {J-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} and the under-the-gun player followed up his preflop raise with a bet of 700. Only Golser called.

Golser had 3,400 left in his stack for a turn card of {A-Clubs}. When the under-the-gun player bet 1,700, Golser moved the rest of those chips into the middle. His opponent quickly called with top two pair, {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. That left Golser's {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} looking for a club for the win or a river ten for a chop. The river, however, did not come ten or club, sending Golser to an early departure.

Heavy Lodden

Among those not having a very good day so far is Johnny Lodden.

There was a limp under the gun, and Lodden raised to 400. Down the table, John O'Shea called, as did the under-the-gun limper.

The flop: {8-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}

It checked to Lodden, who bet 900. A smooth-call from O'Shea, a fold from under the gun, and onwards to the turn.

Turn: {6-Clubs}

Lodden was not giving up, and bet out 2,225. O'Shea eyed up his stack (Lodden had 4,500 behind) but didn't raise; he flat-called and they saw a river.

River: {4-Diamonds}

Lodden checked now, and O'Shea promptly moved all in to cover Lodden. After a few moment's consideration, Lodden meekly folded, and remains on 4,500.

Getting Ziiggy With It

Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies has been getting busy on his table -- he's not much above average, but he does have pretty much all the green 25 chips on his table, suggesting that he's been stealing all the blinds. Tablemate John Tabatabai looks rather irked.

Thewps, I Lost My Chips

EPT Baden champion Julian Thew is down to less than 3,000 already -- from the chip distribution on his table, it looks as though his chips went the way of Ciro DiVenezia before he doubled up Luca Pagano. He's still cheerful enough to compliment PokerStars media coordinator Mad Harper on her haircut, though, and he's still confident enough to push from the button to a raise and a call ahead of him. Both players passed, and he's back up above the 3,000 mark, although not by much.

Rintala Folds Under Pressure

Voitto "Random Eyes" Rintala had the button when he called an early-position player's preflop raise of 325 chips. He tried to apply some pressure on a flop of all baby cards, {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, by raising his opponent's bet from 475 to 1,175. The early-position player didn't blink; he reraised to 3,000. Rintala's cards couldn't hit the muck fast enough.

Lovely Ladies Not Doing So Well

Evelyn Ng Out
Evelyn Ng Out
A few of the lovely ladies in the room are having a tough start to their afternoons. Shirley Rosario is nursing a severely depleted stack, though we didn't see what hand caused her current predicament.

Rosario is doing better than Evelyn Ng, who is out of the tournament. Ng, sitting in early position, raised to 400 after one player limped in. The cutoff player called the raise, folding both blinds, before the early-position limper reraised to 1,200. Ng and the cutoff both called for a three-handed flop of {9-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {A-Hearts}. Action checked to the cutoff, who fired out for 2,100. Only Ng called.

Both players checked the {10-Diamonds} turn. When the river fell {4-Spades}, Ng moved all in for her last 3,650. The cutoff quickly called. Ng's {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} was outmatched by her opponent's {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}. Ng shrugged, stood up, shook her opponent's hand and walked away from the table.

Pagano Steams Ahead

With the board reading {10-Spades} {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, all hell broke loose.

The betting went as follows:

Luca Pagano: bet 1,600
Ciro DiVenezia: raise to 4,000
Pagano: raise to 6,600
DiVenezia: raise to cover Pagano
Pagano: call all in

Oh deary me.

DiVenezia: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} for the top full house
Pagano:{Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} for flopped quads

Pagano doubles up to 19,000, while DiVenezia must have had a very good start indeed as he's still on an above-average 13,000.

All Eyes on Thater

A impressive number of cameras are currently being pointed at Katja Thater's table, because the lovely lady is receiving an early afternoon massage. We'll do our best to keep you posted on events at that table.
