Gentile v. Sumpas

In the small blind, Fabian Gentile open-shoved his full 139,000 chips across the line. Kristoffer "Sumpas" Thorsson was in the big, and he asked for a full count while he considered. Satisfied by the amount, he eventually made the call for just over half of his own stack.

Showdown
Gentile: {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs}
Thorsson: {A-Hearts} {7-Clubs}

The {9-Diamonds} appeared right in the door, and a board of {Q-Spades} {3-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} was safe and sound for Gentile. He's doubled himself up into relative chip health, while Sumpas has been knocked back to 124,000.

Tengsions Rise as the Big Money Looms

Andrew Teng could not be more comfortable at the very top of the current leader board.

Most recently he reduced Stig Rossen's stack to 400,000 after a blind-on-blind confrontation that turned massive.

The board read {5-Spades} {2-Hearts} {J-Spades} {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs} and Teng (small blind) bet out a roughly pot-sized 130,000. Rossen sat back in his chair and stared at the board, and looked as though he was really considering it - but in the end it didn't take him long to fold, and Teng has even more chips than before in a monstrous pyramid that's almost taller than he is.

Helppi Hanging In There

With the board reading {8-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} on the turn, Juha Helppi in the small blind position bet out 23,000. Magnus Borg Hansen, who had been the aggressor preflop, thought about it briefly before announcing all in for 125,000. Swift as anything, Helppi folded.

ElkY Elkiminated

It folded around to Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier on the button who sighed and pushed his remaining 70,000 or so across the line. The small blind passed, but big blind Kristoffer Thorsson called and they were on their backs.

The Wall Of Media was conspicuously absent, but this all happened very quickly and quietly.

ElkY: {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Thorsson: {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds}

Board: {7-Spades} {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}

ElkY knocked over his chips as he left, and Thorsson is back up to 300,000 or so.

Teng Taking Over

Andrew Teng is in the zone right now. Every time we check on him, he has an extra 100,000 chips. Last time by, we watched Chris Dombrowski try to button-raise into Teng's big blind. The chip leader was having none of it though, coming right back with a reraise to 57,000. Dombrowski yielded, and in fact, nobody really wants to tangle with Mr. Big Stacks right now.

Roberto Romanello and Teng both have very impressive, very hard-to-count chip fortresses under construction. Our best estimate has Teng at about 1,550,000 and well out in front.

Quite a Bet From Rossen

Stig Rossen opened to 18,000 in early position, and Peter Eastage stuck in a three-bet to 54,500. Rossen called when the decision came back around, and it was heads up to the flop.

The dealer spread out {3-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. Rossen was first to speak, and he grabbed control in a big way. Rossen announced an all in for somewhere close to 350,000 in a massive overbet. Eastgate actually appeared to consider for a moment, but he eventually elected to lay it down, slipping down to about 575,000.

Pettersson Hanging by the Skin of His Teeth

Popular Lithuanian Kristijonas Andrulis raised to 19,000 in early position and to his immediate left Thomas Pettersson pushed all in for his last 77,000. To his left, Andrew Teng paused, before eyeing up Andrulis' remaining chips. He called the 77,000.

Back over to Andrulis who folded {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} face up, and they were heads up to showdown.

Pettersson: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}
Teng: {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

Board: {K-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {J-Spades} {8-Spades}

Chop.

"I would have called," Andrulis said, meaning if Teng hadn't called first.

"I know," said a slightly wistful Pettersson.

Toth Misses, Eliminated

Csaba Toth on Day 2
Csaba Toth on Day 2
Csaba Toth was all in for 46,000 before the flop after shoving from early position. Mads Wissing made the call directly across the table, and Toth was heads up and racing for his tournament life.

Showdown
Toth: {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}
Wissing: {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}

Board: {10-Spades} {6-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. That's not very useful at all for Toth and, unable to connect, the start-of-day chip leader has been eliminated with 40 players left.
