Brammer Loses Ground To Stam

On a {10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop, Sondre Svanevik checked from the big blind and from UTG+1, Chris Brammer bet 1,200 and was called by Robin Stam in the hijack seat. Dominik Nitsche folded his button and Sondre Svanevik folded his big blind.

The turn was the {10-Spades} and Brammer now checked. Stam paused for 25-30 seconds before tapping the table and checking himself. The {6-Spades} on the river double-pair the board and Brammer checked again. Stam bet 3,300 and Brammer checked his hole cards, looked like calling but ultimately folded.

Waxman Climbing Up The Counts

Matt Waxman is up to 41,000 and is marching up the chip counts.

Joining the action on a {7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades} board, Waxman was in late position and Dariusz Paszkiewicz had checked to him from the small blind. Waxman, a former WPT Grand Prix de Paris winner, bet 2,100 into the 2,800 pot and Paszkiewicz got rid of his hand.

It's a Trap!

John Eames, who's off to a lightning fast start, was recently heads up with 2011 World Series of Poker November Niner Anton Makiievskyi on a flop of {q-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Eames checked, Makiievskyi fired 1,500, and Eames called.

The turn was another king - the {k-Hearts} - and Eames checked again. Makiievskyi checked behind.

The river was the {6-Diamonds}, and Eames knuckled a third and final time. Makiievskyi checked behind, and tabled {9-}{7-}.

Eames, grinning ear-to-ear, tabled {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for quad kings.

His trap didn't work, but Eames is still among our leaders with around 78,000 chips.

An Orbit With the "Table of Death"

I had originally had the idea to watch table 43 for an entire orbit as three former EPT Champions (Anton Wigg, Aaron Gustavson and Jason Mercier) were all sat there. The post title would've been, "A Round with the Former Champs." The title changed to what it is now after Team PokerStars Pros Johnny Lodden and Dario Minieri sat down while hand one was playing out. What a table!

Hand One:

We got to the table when Gustavson and Jason James had already built a 10k pot by the river of a {4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board. James led for 3,000 and tank-called when Gustavson raised to 6,500. The EPT London Season 6 winner had been caught at it with {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} handing the pot to James with his {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}.

Hand Two:

Margaux Duplantier opened to 400 and was called in three spots en route to an {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop. Duplantier checked and Wigg led for 925, only called by Dennis Kaumanns in the small blind. Wigg bet 2,000 and 3,450 on the {8-Spades}{3-Hearts} turn and river. His German opponent called the first bet but check-raised the river bet up to 9,500. Wigg, the EPT Copenhagen Season 7 champion, released his hand.

Hand Three:

Dario Minieri opened to 500 from under the gun and was only called by Jacob Toole in mid position. The flop came down {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Minieri continued for 600. Call. Toole took over from here and bet 1,400 and 3,800 on the {7-Hearts}{a-Spades} turn and river when checked to him. The Team PokerStars Pro called the turn bet before giving up on the river.

Hand Four:

Matias Ruiz Vinal limped from early position and called along with Lodden when Toole raised to 800. The flop fell {8-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Toole continued for 1,450. Lodden raised this up to 3,500 and took the pot as both opponents folded.

Hand Five:

Wigg took the blinds with an under the gun raise to 400.

Hand Six:

Lodden raised to 450 from the hijack and both blinds called. The Norwegian continued for for 700 on the {4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop and took the pot down.

Hand Seven:
Minieri raised to 400 from the cut-off and took the blinds.

Hand Eight:

Wigg raised to 450 on the button and Toole peeled from the big blind to see a {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop that was checked through to the {10-Clubs} turn. Toole led for 650. Call. Both players checked the {8-Hearts} river and Toole opened {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for a straight. Wigg mucked.

Hand Nine

Toole completed from the small blind but folded when Gustavson raised to 500 from the big blind.

Hand Ten:

Minieri raised to 400 and was only called by Duplantier in the next seat. The Italian continued for 500 on the {9-Spades}{j-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Duplantier called. Both players checked through the {3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} turn and river. Minieri opened {5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and lost out to the French lady's {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.

Mercier was very quiet while we were there. That because he was too busy winning chunks playing $50/$100 PLO on the PokerStars Mobile App.

Hellman Finds a Double

There was a raise to 575 from early position, and five callers, including Jonatan Hellman and Mike Gagliano. Sergej Barbarez, who won his entry into this tournament via a live satellite, squeezed out of the small blind, raising to 3,250.

The original raiser released, Hellman moved all in for 12,500, and the action folded back to Barbarez, who called.

Barbarez: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Hellman: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Hellman jumped out into the lead when the flop fell {q-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, and successfully doubled as the turn and river came {2-Hearts}, {a-Spades} respectively.

With all of the dead money in the pot, Hellman more than doubled to around 29,000 chips.
