Soria Eliminated Once More

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Rolando Soria
Rolando Soria

Rolando Soria doubled his stack early on Day 1a but didn't make it to the bagging and tagging, and unfortunately for the Argentinian, the same also happened on Day 1b as well.

Down to fewer than the starting stack, he got it in after a {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop and was dominated by table neighbor Tiziano Di Romualdo.

Rolando Soria: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Tiziano Di Romualdo: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The {a-Hearts} turn instantly left Soria drawing dead, which made the {5-Diamonds} river a formality.

Aces for Ensan

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Hossein Ensan
Hossein Ensan

Hossein Ensan raised to 800 in the cutoff and the button was the only caller. On a flop of {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, Ensan continued for 1,000 and picked up a call.

The {j-Hearts} on the turn was checked and Ensan bet the {a-Clubs} river for 1,800, which was called by the button. Ensan rolled over {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and that won the pot. The same table also features Antonio Scalzi, Tamer Kamel, Victoria Coren Mitchell, big stack Jason Wheeler and Eugen Chiva.

Ignatov Doubles Through Margolin

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Timur Margolin pushed into Pavel Ignatov on the {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop with around 11,000 in the middle and Ignatov reluctantly called for his last 15,200.

Pavel Ignatov: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Timur Margolin: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}

The {6-Hearts} turn was a blank, as was the {q-Diamonds} on the river, and Ignatov jumped back above the starting stack.

Field up to 787 Entries, Last Year's Total Surpassed

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

In the fourth level of the day, the number of Day 1b entries has grown to 445, putting the total number of entries in the tournament currently at 787. That's already more than last year's total of 777, and with late-registration open until the start of Day 2, the field is on track to become the second-biggest Main Event of all time here in Monaco.

The 2016 record, when Jan Bendik topped a 1,098-strong field, will likely stand.

Akkari on the Up

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
André Akkari
André Akkari

PokerStars Ambassador Andre Akkari is chipping up nicely after taking down a pot against El Amir Ziad Chehab just now. Akkari opened the action to 800 and got three calls, one on the cutoff and both the blinds.

The flop fell {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and both the blinds checked to Akkari who continued for 1,100. Only El Amir Ziad Chehab called and they went to the turn. It was the {7-Diamonds} and both players checked this time.

Finally the {3-Spades} landed on the river. Chehab took a stab, betting 1,500 and Akkari called. Playing from the small blind it was Chehab who had to open his hands first and he turned over {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a busted flush draw and Akkari's pocket {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} were good for the pot.
