Ryan Riess is Putting his Money on Shaun Deeb

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Ryan Riess went to Twitter to ask if anyone wanted to bet ANY POKER PLAYER to win World Series of Poker 2019 POY over Shaun Deeb. He got one taker. Who did that person take? It's a must win bet and it may prove to be quite the sweat.

Another Scalp for Antonius

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Patrik Antonius is slowly but surely becoming a force to be reckoned with in this tournament, with Georgios Kitsios becoming the latest victim of the Finnish poker icon. Short-stacked, Kitsios got it in with {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, only to run into Antonius' {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

The {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board left little doubt who won the hand and Kitsios went off to collect €12,790 in prize money.

Seth Fischer Knows the Pain of Poker

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

If you don’t know who Seth “SFisch04” Fischer is, that’s partially by design. Though he’s a PokerStars qualifier here at EPT Monte Carlo, he doesn’t maintain a PocketFives profile and says he enjoys flying under the radar. But it’s also partly chance. Had a single card fallen friendly in 2008, things might have been different.

Born and raised in Florida, Fischer was at college in Atlanta when he became one of the millions who picked up poker during the Moneymaker boom.

Razavi Loses Chips to Chouity Twice

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Nicolas Chouity
Nicolas Chouity

The flop was {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and there was well over 200,000 in the pot when Nicolas Chouity bet 44,000 from early position. Melika Razavi called from the cutoff to see the {q-Hearts} turn.

They both checked this time and the river was the {5-Diamonds}. Both players checked again and Chouity showed his {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. That was enough to win the pot because Razavi threw her cards in the muck.

Shortly after, Razavi raised and got a call from Jean-René Fontaine, as well as Chouity in the blinds. Razavi bet 23,000 on the {9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop and only Chouity stuck around. The turn was the {4-Spades} and Chouity check-called 55,000. The {6-Hearts} river went check/check.

It was a good check behind from Razavi; Chouity nodded and showed {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for another pot to the former champ.

Metaal Climbing Up

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Dario Sammartino raised to 18,000 from the hijack and was called by Manig Loeser and Govert Metaal in the blinds.

Both Loeser and Metaal checked through the {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{j-Spades} on the flop. Sammartino continued with a bet of 20,000 which only Metaal called.

They then proceeded to both check through the {4-Clubs} on the turn to the {6-Diamonds} on the river. Metaal bet 13,000 which Sammartino called after a few seconds. Metaal tabled {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for the flopped top pair and that was enough to make Sammartino muck his hand.

Macnamara Back Down After Clash With Medina

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Luis Medina
Luis Medina

Fionn Macnamara has just lost the chips he gained from knocking Michail Karapanos out after getting tangled in a pot against Luis Medina.

After Medina had opened to 17,000 from early position and Macnamara called in the small blind, the dealer laid {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{k-Hearts} on the flop. Macnamara check-called a 28,000 continuation and on the {7-Hearts} turn he check-called another 70,000.

The {a-Hearts} river paired the ace and it went check-call after Medina bet 75,000, which was about half of what he had left. Luis Medina tabled the nuts with {a-Spades}{k-Spades} and Macnamara said "nice hand" as he sent his cards into the muck.

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Seth Davies
Seth Davies

Seth Davies was all in for mere crumbs in the big blind and Ramon Miquel Munoz and Melika Razavi were building a side pot. On the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} turn, Razavi bet 38,000 to shake out Munoz.

Seth Davies: {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Melika Razavi: {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Davies made his way out in 66th place.

Mazza Finds a Double-Up

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Ryan Riess raised to 17,000 from under the gun and Sylvain Mazza shoved on the button. Serafim Kovalevskiy asked for a count and the dealer confirmed Mazza had 86,000 behind. Kovalevskiy called and Riess folded.

Sylvain Mazza: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Serafim Kovalevskiy: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for Mazza to hold with the pocket sevens to double up.

Karapanos Eliminated by Macnamara

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Michail Karapanos pushed his last 15 big blinds to the middle when it folded to him on the button. The player in the small blind got out of the way but Fionn Macnamara called to put Karapanos at risk of eliminations.

Michail Karapanos: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Fionn Macnamara: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Karapanos was eliminated from the tournament in 67th place and he cashed for €12,790.

Razavi Has Fontaine's Number, Kvilhaug Doubles Again

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Melika Razavi
Melika Razavi

The former feature table has been moved back into the outer field again, where two interesting hands developed in quick succession. First, it was Jean-René Fontaine who tried to take on Melika Razavi. The board was reading {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts} and the man from the French overseas territory of Réunion bet 76,000.

With the camera's capturing all the action, Razavi burned through some time extensions before calling it off. Fontaine, busted, opted not to show and mucked his hand face-down. That wasn't the end of it, though, as Razavi slapped {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} on the felt for a mere fourth pair to indicate she has Fontaine's number.

Shortly after, Evy Kvilhaug and Ramon Miquel Munoz got it in on a {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop for Kvilhaug's final 103,000 in chips.

Evy Kvilhaug: {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Ramon Miquel Munoz: {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Miquel whiffed the combo draw on a {8-Clubs} turn and {10-Clubs} river and Kvilhaug doubled up.
