Reard Continues Where He Left Off

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Alexandre Reard, winner of the €2,200 EPT National High Roller
Alexandre Reard, winner of the €2,200 EPT National High Roller

Yesterday night, Alexandre Reard shipped the €2,200 EPT National High Roller for a career-best of €342,810. The Frenchman is showing no sign of winner's fatigue yet as he just strongarmed two opponents out of a pot to win another hand.

On the turn, the board read {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{9-Spades} and Reard bet 12,500. Tom-Aksel Bedell folded the cutoff, but Silma Macalou called with relative ease on the button.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Reard slid a stack of T-5,000 chips forward, enough to cover Macalou. Grimacing, Macalou folded after twenty seconds to leave the pot to Reard.

Mikolaitis Takes From Kim

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The flop read {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} with about 5,000 in the middle and Dominykas Mikolaitis checked from the big blind and Gab Yong Kim sat under the gun. He fired a bet of 2,500 and Mikolaitis called.

The turn was the {6-Spades} and both players checked. They also checked on the {7-Diamonds} river and Mikolaitis won the pot after he showed {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

The Roller Coaster is Real for Sheshukov

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Aleksandr Sheshukov
Aleksandr Sheshukov

It's been the swingiest of days at the tables for Aleksandr Sheshukov, who was chip leading the EPT Prague Main Event by a sizable margin not long ago. Sheshukov broke the 200K mark mere hours into Day 1b and topped the standings for a while before plummeting back down to 62,500 in chips.

Just now, all of those went in preflop with {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} into the {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} of Vitalijs Zavorotnijs in a button-versus-big-blind situation. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} to improve Sheshukov's jacks to a straight, barely escaping from the jaws of defeat.

Lakhdari Wins Bizarre Pot

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Omar Lakhdari raised from the cutoff to 3,200 and he was called by the player in the big blind. The flop was about to be dealt and the player in the big blind announced that he checked in the dark. Before the dealer burned the first card Lakhdari announced a bet of 4,500 in the dark as well.

The player in the big blind called when he saw the flop and Lakhdari asked the big blind if he wanted to check in the dark again, but he didn't.

The turn was the {j-Hearts} and the big blind bet 10,000 himself this time. He was called by Lakhdari and the {k-Diamonds} river fell.

The big blind checked and Lakhdari grabbed every 100, 500, and 1,000 chip out of his stack without counting to make a bet of 29,400. He was quickly called by the big blind and he opened up {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for a rivered two pair and the big blind opened up {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} with disgust all over their face.

Mattila Bluffs Nemeth and Eliminates Klatt

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Jussi Mattila
Jussi Mattila

Andras Nemeth seems to be having fun at his table, especially with Jussi Mattila who finished in second place last night in the EPT National for €247,978. They were kind enough to tell the PokerNews team about a hand earlier tonight in the 400/800/800 level:

Mattila had limped in from the button and the player in the small blind completed his small blind while Nemeth opted to check. The flop came {k-}{q-}{j-}, it was checked to Mattila who bet 1,600 which only Nemeth called. The turn was another {q-}, Nemeth bet 3,500 and Mattila snap-raised to 12,000 which Nemeth called. The river completed the board with the {a-}, Nemeth checked and Mattila shoved for around 35,000. Nemeth tanked.

Nemeth had a good hand but thought Mattila could be bluffing and voiced that.

"You think I have five-six," Mattila said and Nemeth ended up folding in the end. Mattila showed {4-Spades}{2-Spades}.

In the meantime, Mattila was playing a hand against Andreas Klatt and the board read {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}, Mattila had bet 26,000 from the big blind and Klatt shoved from the middle position for a bit more. Mattila called with {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for the turned straight after they had checked through the board. Klatt tabled {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for the set of sixes. The river completed the board with the {2-Diamonds} to not help Klatt as Mattila added another elimination to his list.

Kenney Wins From O'Grady

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Michael O'Grady raised to 2,500 from the button and big blind Bryn Kenney defended. The two went heads-up to the flop to see the dealer spread out the {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

Kenney checked his option from the big blind and O'Grady bet 3,000. Kenney called and the turn was the {a-Clubs}. Both players checked and the {6-Diamonds} was dealt and they checked again.

Kenney showed {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of tens and that was enough to take down the pot.
