Joost Hollak
Joost Hollak

With the flop showing 1095, Day 1a chip leader Joost Hollak bet 16,000 with Shakhabiddin Muradov making the call.

Hollak fired a bet of 50,000 upon seeing the 6 hit the turn. Muradov shoved for Hollak's remaining 75,000 and Hollak called.

Joost Hollak: AA All in
Shakhabiddin Muradov: Q10

Hollak was ahead with his overpair but had to fade a queen or a ten on the river to stay alive. The blank 2 river was exactly what Hollak was looking for as he doubled up with pocket aces.

Yokosawa Hanging On as Krzesinski Applies the Pressure

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Tomasz Krzesinski raised to 6,000 from under the gun and picked up calls from Ian Hunter in the small blind and Masato Yokosawa in the big blind.

The flop came J72 and action checked to Krzesinski, who bet 7,000. Both opponents called to see the 10 turn.

Again the blinds checked to Krzesinski, who upped the bet to 20,000. Hunter called, but Yokosawa folded, both holding approximately 70,000 remaining chips.

On the river 5, Hunter checked a final time and then faced a bet of 30,000 from Krzesinski.

After taking stock of his remaining chips, the Brit folded to send the pot to Krzesinski, who has one of the healthier stacks in the room.

"Gamble too much," Lin said when Weis turned over his cards. The Q97 flop gave Weis a pair, but he improved no further on the 4 turn and 8 river as Lin doubled up.

"Three big blind, I'm number one in the world. Three big blind I know how to play. One more double up, back to average. One more double and we're in the money," Lin said as he took the pot.

Time Runs Out for Murthy

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

There was roughly 65,000 in the pot on the K9Q6J completed board, with Neel Murthy and Beka Iordanishvili heads up.

Murthy checked in the big blind, and Iordanishvilli put around a pot-sized bet out in front of him. Murthy clicked it 126,000 and was met with a snap-jam for 242,000 by his opponent.

"Don't know why I had to be so greedy," exclaimed Murthy as he entered the tank.

His thought process lasted for several minutes and he continuously beat himself up over the spot.

"I really thought it was less than that," he groaned. "You didn't even think about it."

The clock was called by Manesh Rashidi, which Murthy had no objections to. The count began and Murthy could not make up his mind and threw his 109x into the muck.

Nick Palma implored Iordanishvilli to show a bluff, but the latter's cards remained face down.

"I think it was a chop," continued Murthy as the dealer began the next hand.

Andrea Caizzi is hanging on with around 20,000 near the end of the night, but his journey today nearly didn't happen.

Caizzi explained he won a satellite into the Main Event yesterday and went out to celebrate with some friends. While at a club, he got into some trouble with the bouncers and wound up in jail for the night.

"I showed up for this tournament on Level 12 with 8,000," he said. "If I go on to win, it would be a story."
