Day 1 Completed
The curtains have closed on Day 1 of the €100,000 Super High Roller at the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Malta at Casino Malta in St. Julian’s. The event has, so far, attracted 13 entries, with seven of those surviving to progress to Day 2.
Leading the way is Turkey’s Orpen Kisacikoglu, sitting on an impressive stack of 903,000. His rise was fueled in part by a perfectly timed cooler that went his way. Both Kisacikoglu and Juan Pardo flopped sets, but Kisacikoglu found a miracle turn card to make quads, securing a huge double-up on his way to holding the overnight chip lead.

| 5 | Ben Heath | United Kingdom | 343,000 | 57 |

| 7 | Adrian Mateos | Spain | 338,000 | 56 |
Entering Day 2 with the second-largest stack, Pieter Aerts will be looking to add to his already impressive poker resume. Fresh from winning the €25,000 No Limit Hold'em event at EPT Barcelona in August, Aerts has momentum on his side. The Belgian amassed a stack of 614,000 for Day 2, good for 102 big blinds at the start of play.
Not all who entered were fortunate enough to secure a seat for Day 2. Players such as Christopher Nguyen, [Removed:548], and Jamil Wakil fell foul of the deck before the end of the day.
All hope is not lost, though, as reentries are permitted, and late registration remains open until the beginning of Day 2. As such, the field is sure to see more poker stars enter the fray, ready to battle, hoping to become the newest EPT Super High Roller champion. The official prize pool and payouts will be announced shortly after play begins.
Day 2 resumes on Monday, October 6, at 12:30 p.m. local time. Play will recommence at Level 9, with blinds at 3,000/6,000/6,000, and is scheduled to run for eight 60-minute levels. Players will take a 20-minute break after every two levels.
As always, stay tuned to PokerNews for chip counts, updates, and all the action as the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller continues in Malta.

With eight levels completed, Day 1 has ended with seven players surviving the flight.
Play will resume tomorrow with Day 2 starting at 12:30 p.m. local time; late registration will remain open until cards are in the air.
Stay tuned for the chip counts and a recap of the day's action.
The tournament director has announced that the remaining players will play five more hands, after which the surviving players will bag their chips for Day 2.
Alexandros Theologis opened to 11,000 from middle position, and Orpen Kisacikoglu called from the button.
The flop came 2♠8♣7♥, and both players checked.
On the K♥ turn, Theologis bet 42,000, and Kisacikoglu called.
When the 4♣ hit the river, Kisacikoglu led with a 60,000 bet after Theologis checked. Theologis burned through three time bank cards before calling, saying, “You never bluff here.”
He was right; Kisacikoglu turned over K♠Q♥ for top pair, enough to take down the pot.

Adrian Mateos raised to 10,000 from the hijack, and only Jamil Wakil called, defending his big blind.
Mateos continued with a bet of 5,000 on the K♣Q♥7♣ flop, only to see Wakil put in a check-raise to 15,000. Undeterred, Mateos called.
Wakil wasted little time in moving all in for 32,000 on the 6♠ turn, and Mateos made the immediate call to put him at risk.
Jamil Wakil: K♥J♥
Adrian Mateos: A♠Q♠
A promising situation soon turned sour for Wakil, as the dealer burned and turned the Q♦ river, improving Mateos to trip queens and sending Wakil to the rail.

[Removed:549] paused briefly before shoving all in, but Kisacikoglu snap-called. [Removed:549] held A♣10♣ for trips tens, but Kisacikoglu revealed 4♦4♠ for a flopped full house. The K♠ river didn’t help [Removed:549], sending him out to the rail.

Action folded to Juan Pardo in the small blind, who opted to move all in for 62,000. Big blind player, Ben Heath, wasted no time in calling and showing Pardo the bad news.
Juan Pardo: K♠5♥
Ben Heath: A♠A♦
A perilous position for Pardo, who needed plenty of help from the deck to survive.
There was no help to be found as the dealer provided the 8♣7♠9♣9♥3♣ board, sending Pardo to the exit.
