Montone’s Two Pair Holds at Showdown

Level 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The board showed 92K9 and the pot was around 50,000 when Diego Montone, first to act from middle position, bet 12,000. Grzegorz Kozieja, under the gun, raised to 28,000 and Montone made the call.

The 4 river landed and Montone checked. Kozieja took his time but eventually checked back, sending the hand to showdown. Montone revealed 88 for nines and eights, enough to scoop the pot.

Paunescu Steals from Nikiforov

Level 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Ilya Nikiforov opened to 16,000 from middle position and Ciprian Paunescu called from the hijack.

The A10A flop was bet by Nikiforov for 8,000 and Paunescu called.

A 3 was turned and Nikiforov bet out 32,000. Paunescu made another call and the players saw the 10 complete the board.

Nikiforov moved 70,000 into the middle and Paunescu raised to 175,000, which sent Nikiforov into a near two-minute tank.

Nikiforov gave up his hand, and lost a large portion of his stack to Paunescu, sitting back with just over twenty big blinds to play with.

Leo Worthington-Leese opened from early position to 16,000 and Benjamin Chalot called from the hijack. Vasyl Pidhrusnyi three-bet to 55,000 on the button, and only Chalot paid to see the flop.

Chalot counted out his stack, and moved chips across the line to call and showed his pocket nines.
