Life Outside Poker is a podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 35th episode, Connor talks with No Filter Poker Series founder Mounir Tajiou about growing up in Sweden, working as a high court judge, playing professional soccer, making a deep run in the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, and the new No Filter Poker Series, which values fun at the table over poker strategy.
We also hear from 1998 Main Event champion Scotty Nguyen, reigning WSOP champ Michael Mizrachi and Finnish poker legend Juha Helppi about their involvement with the No Filter Poker tour.
Level 18 has been completed, and the players have been sent on a 20-minute break.
Listed below are some highlights from the past 90 minutes of play.
Action folded to the blinds, where Matthias Auer raised to 24,000 from the small blind and Fehim Hajdari called in the big blind.
The flop came Q♦6♦5♦. Auer checked, and Hajdari bet 16,000, earning a call.
The 6♣ turn brought the same pattern: Auer checked, Hajdari fired 25,000, and Auer called again.
When the 10♣ hit the river, Auer checked for a third time. Hajdari took a moment before moving all in for 92,000. After getting the count, Auer went deep into the tank, burning two time bank cards before eventually folding, giving the pot to Hajdari.
Three-handed on a flop of 9♣5♠3♣, Jaromir Hanel bet 80,000 from the hijack and Ghattas Kortas called on the button, as did Gianfranco Iaculli in middle position.
All three players checked the 6♦ turn. The river was the 9♥ and Iaculli led out for 175,000. Hanel quickly called, while Kortas got out of the way.
Iaculli turned over 10♦9♦ for rivered trips, and Hanel mucked A♣A♦.
At another table, Elias Suhonen had opened to 18,000 in the hijack before Adil Tlimisov three-bet to 50,000 on the button. Suhonen then moved all in for 205,000, and Tlimisov called.
Elias Suhonen: A♥K♠
Adil Tlimisov: A♣Q♣
Suhonen was ahead with his king-kicker, but the 8♣5♦Q♦ flop gave Tlimisov the lead with top pair. The rest of the board ran out 7♠6♠ and Suhonen was sent to the rail.
Ding Fan opened to 16,000 on the button and Marius Kudzmanas three-bet to 72,000 from the big blind. Fan called.
The 6♦5♥8♠ flop prompted Kudzmanas to bet 120,000, which saw Fan make a quick fold.
Vito Vella in the big blind, Xiaowen Zhao in early position, and Diego Montone in the hijack had gotten all their chips in preflop. Montone was at risk for 261,000, Vella had put in 288,000, and Zhao covered them both.
Diego Montone: A♥K♣
Vito Vella: K♠K♥
Xiaowen Zhao: J♥J♣
Vella's kings remained ahead on the Q♥9♠7♦ flop and 10♦ turn, but Zhao made a straight on the 8♣ river. He scooped up the monster pot, eliminating both Montone and Vella in one fell swoop.
Chaofei Wang raised to 16,000 in early position before Conor O'Driscoll three-bet to 38,000 in middle position. Roland Rokita then four-bet to 85,000 on the button.
Wang folded, but O'Driscoll moved all in. Rokita snap-called for 320,000.
Roland Rokita: Q♠Q♦
Conor O'Driscoll: K♦K♥
Rokita had picked up another big pair, but this time he ran right into O'Driscoll's kings. The K♠4♦A♣ flop improved O'Driscoll to a set, and Rokita was left drawing dead after the 3♥ turn. The river was the 5♥ and O'Driscoll took in the big pot to send Rokita to the rail.
