Pupillo Over 200,000

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Nick Pupillo
Nick Pupillo

A regular to the Golden Gates Poker Parlour, Nick Pupillo wasted no time making his way to Colorado after taking seventh place at the WPT Borgata $3,500 Main Event just two days ago.

In a recent hand, Pupillo was seen with a bet of 22,000 in front of him on a board of {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} to put action on Svetlana Martie. Pupillo was in early position and Martie was in middle position with about 50,000 already in the middle.

Martie went deep in the tank and eventually found a fold.

On the following hand, Pupillo raised to 4,000 from under the gun and received four callers. He then took down the pot with a continuation-bet of 8,000 on a flop of {2-Spades}{q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

After the pot was sent to him, racks were dispersed across the table as the dealer high-carded for new seat draws. Pupillo was kind enough to share some of the details as he went to his new seat.

According to Pupillo, he won a couple large pots with a few smaller ones scattered in between. The two of note that he shared involved him making a set of sevens and two pair. He bet 16,000 on the river on both occasions and got paid off.

At the time of moving to a new seat, Pupillo's stack appears to be 229,000.

Champlin Survives On Final Card

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Spencer Champlin
Spencer Champlin

Spencer Champlin had 11,200 out in front of him from middle position and was facing a three-bet to 30,200 by Aaron Messmer, who was on the button. He thought for some time and then announced he was all in.

Messmer asked Champlin how much he had and his stack was totaled to be 47,600. Messmer called.

Spencer Champlin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Aaron Messmer: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Champlin was flipping for his tournament life and in need of improving to stay in contention. The flop came {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, resulting in his equity dropping significantly. The turn then came {j-Hearts}, leaving him with one chance left to stay alive. The river {k-Diamonds} was just the card he needed, giving him kings up to beat Messmer's queens up; Messmer then paid off Champlin and the table got ready for the next hand.

Alex Greenblatt
Alex Greenblatt

A player in middle position opened to 3,800 and was three-bet to 10,300 by Alex Greenblatt, who was on the button. The small blind folded and Mansour Alipourfard then cold four-bet all in for about 39,200.

The middle-position player then announced he was all in, putting Greenblatt to a decision for his tournament life. He thought for a few seconds and then made the call.

Mansour Alipourfard: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Alex Greenblatt: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Third Player: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for Greenblatt to knock out Alipourfard and secure the side pot for the rest, getting more than a double in the process.

Danny Gonzalez on Day 1a
Danny Gonzalez on Day 1a

A player in early position raised to 3,000 and was called by Connie Bruce in the cutoff, Danny Gonzales, who was on the button, and Chris Tryba, who defended his big blind.

The four saw the flop come {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and action checked around to Gonzales, who put a bet of 8,000 into the pot. Tryba and the original raiser folded, putting action onto Bruce, who called.

The turn was {8-Diamonds} and Bruce check-called another bet of 8,000 from Gonzales.

The river fell {6-Hearts} and Bruce checked once more. Gonzales threw out a bet of 16,000 and Bruce quickly let her hand go.

After the hand, Tryba was down to about 10,500. He doubled a couple hands later with pocket tens to ace-king, hitting a ten on the flop to alleviate any true sweat.

Lekarczyk Chips Up After Dinner

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

There was three-way action that saw 3,000 go into the middle each from Greg Geller in the small blind as well as Ronnie Lamb and Mitch Lekarczyk, who were both in early position.

The flop came {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and action checked to Lekarczyk, who bet 5,400. Geller folded and Lamb thought for about 30 seconds before putting in chips to call.

The turn was {4-Hearts} and Lamb checked again. Lekarczyk fired a second barrel for 12,500, sending Lamb back into the tank for a bit longer. He then folded and Lekarczyk took down the pot.
