The short-stacked Jamie Whyte defended his big blind versus the under the gun open of Shean Lai.

Whyte check-raised to 500,000 versus Lai's continuation bet of 100,000 on the 10♠4♠3♦ flop, leaving himself only 35,000 behind. Lai called mistakenly thinking Whyte had moved all-in and almost turned over his hand before being informed Whyte had chips left.

Whyte put his last 35,000 in the middle on the 2♠ turn and Lai called.

The river rolled off the J♣ and Roche again checked to Lai. Lai put out a bet of 475,000. After some thought Roche called and mucked his hand after he was shown K♥K♠ by Lai for a pair of kings.
