Holmes Clicks the Minimum

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Three-way to a flop of 682, Razvan Aflacailor started with a fold from under the gun. After some laughs, Gareth McMahon made a bet of 800 in the next seat over, and John Holmes called on the button.

The Q was turned and McMahon continued for 1,200. Holmes made a small raise to 2,500, and Mcmahon folded after a little thought, claiming that he mucked pocket aces.

Robinson Relinquishes Some Chips

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

Lukas Robinson and Aidan Connolly were heads up on a turn of 9A10K. Robinson checked from the big blind before Conolly bet out 600 from the hijack. Robinson made the call and both players saw the 4 river roll off.

Robinson checked again, after which Conolly made a big bet of 2,500 chips. Robsinson quickly mucked his cards, forfeiting some early chips to his opponent.

Crowley Off to Flying Start

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

Ken Crowley raised to 300 from under the gun and Michal Plichta called from the button. Razvan Aflacailor also came along from the small blind, and a flop of K89 was put on the table.

Aflacailor checked, which prompted Crowley to continue for 500 chips. Both players called to see the 8 turn. Crowley then sized up to 1,500, and this time both of his opponents folded.

"Aces," Crowley repeated a few times before indeed showing his AA to the table.

Galway Girls and Boys Assemble for Day 1c of €600 Galway Poker Festival Main Event

Poker Room at The Galmont
Poker Room at The Galmont

While Day 1b of the €600 Galway Poker Festival Main Event is still underway in full force with 143 entries on the clock, those who have already been eliminated or woke up late from their slumbers in the comfortable beds of The Galmont Hotel & Spa are in luck as Day 1c is slated to start at 5 p.m. local time.

The guaranteed prize pool of €300,000 has not been reached yet, incentivizing players to sign up for every flight to maximize their chances of making Day 2. Of course, the €10,000 last-longer for Paddy Power Poker qualifiers is also still in effect. Players who get unlucky today need not fret, however, as three more starting flights are happening tomorrow, Saturday, January 6.

Day 1c follows the same blind structure as Day 1b, with fifteen 30-minute levels being played until the conclusion of the day. With 50,000 chips as a starting stack, there is plenty of room for maneuvers when the blinds kick off at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante.

As with all starting flights at this iteration of the Irish Poker Tour, late registration is open for nine levels, and one reentry is available per player. Everyone who survives the 15 levels will bag up for Day 2, which takes place on Sunday, January 7.
