Madsen Doubles in First Hand

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

Jakob Madsen has just doubled up in the first hand he played after jumping into the Main Event and was kind enough to relay what had happened:

Olvedo Heinze raised to 1,000 from the early position and was called by Madsen in the middle position and the player in the big blind.

The flop came ]jx6x3x] with two diamonds. The big blind checked, Heinze continued with a bet of one-third of the pot, which was called by both Madsen and the big blind.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, the big blind and Heinze checked, Madsen took over the initiative and led out for 5,200. The player in the big blind shoved with the bigger stack and Heinze quickly folded while Madsen called with {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush. The player in the big blind had {7-}{4-} with one diamond.

The river didn't change anything and Madsen earned his double-up.

Rene Kuhlman
Rene Kuhlman

In a four-way limped pot with a continuation-bet on the flop which was called by all, the board read {4-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Gary Hasson had checked in the big blind, Rene Kuhlman had bet from the middle position, Thierry van den Berg called in the hijack and the other player folded. Hasson raised and now only Kuhlman made the call.

The river completed the board with the {5-Spades}, Hasson checked for the last time. Kuhlman now fired a bet of 10,500 over the line. Hasson took some time to consider his options but decided to fold in the end.
