Day 1a of Event #7: $2,000 Warm Up from the Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party has concluded.

It took just 16 levels and 13 hours for Day 1a to come to a close, with 27 players returning from Day 1a to play in Day 2. 182 entrants came to the tables today, including 41 rebuys. All players remaining are now in the money and have locked up a min-cash. It’s worth mentioning those that made Day 2 will be playing with a 30-second shot clock in Day 2, with time bank cards they can use to give them extended time.

Many renowned and established players took to the tables today, including Chino Rheem, Bruno Fitoussi and Maxim Lykov. Some well knowns bagged and tagged for Day 2, including Uri Reichenstein (155,000) and Steve O’Dwyer (113,000). They will come in as two of the shortest stacks, however.

The bubble boy from the event was Osman Midik when he ran his short stack into Boris Kolev (266,000) and didn't improve to be sent out in 28th. He and anyone who didn't make Day 2, still have the opportunity to, with three more flights, each with a rebuy available to be played over the next two days. With a $2,000,000 guarantee, it looks highly likely that will be smashed.

PokerNews will have updates from all the remaining flights for the event, check here for all updates relevant to the Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party live from the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Casino in North Cyprus.

Osman Midik Eliminated on the Bubble; Day 1a Ends

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

With Osman Midik short stacked, he moved all in for 37,000 from the cutoff. The button of Boris Kolev called and the blinds folded putting Midik at risk.

Osman Midik: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Boris Kolev: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The Turkish player was at risk and behind. Though the flop of {q-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} did give him a lot of outs, the {q-Hearts} turn and {4-Diamonds} river completed the board sending him out in 28th, just before the money.

The other 27 players are through to Day 2 and bag their stacks. A full update of those remaining and the day's play will be available shortly.

Vohrs Makes Dent in O'Dwyer

On a board of {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts} with 60,000 chips in the pot, Soren Vohrs was betting 31,000 chips into Steve O'Dwyer on the button.

O'Dwyer responded by raising to 105,000 chips. Vohrs wasn't done in the hand though. His response to the aggression from the man with over $32,000,000 in live cashes was another raise. With both hands, Vohrs slid in 341,000 chips, as some fell into the pot from the stack as he attempted to move.

O'Dwyer went deep into thought, riffling his chips. Ultimately he let his hand go. Vohrs climbs up the chip ladder as the end of Day 1a comes near to a close.

Controversial Hand Involving Midik and Meran; Meran Wins Big Pot

Alberto Meran was heads-up from the cutoff against Osman Midik in the big blind. The former had bet 25,000 into a 45,000 chip pot on a board of {4-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Midik decided on a raise to 60,000. Meran made the call.

When the {5-Spades} completed the board, Midik then bet 100,000. This is where things got a little bit heated. Meran put 100,000 to denote a call but when Midik turned over {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, Meren let go of his cards on to the table before picking them back up and turning them over to show {k-Spades}{9-Clubs} for the winner. As his hand wasn't in the muck, his call stood. Midik was not happy about, as the floor was called.

The ruling was made and Meran wins a big pot to send himself across the half-million chip mark.
