Wright Move Wrong Time

Now short-stacked, Ian Wright moved in preflop with {K-Spades} {6-Spades}, but unluckily for him the {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} lurked behind him. "One time run good!" he prayed, but the {A-?} {Q-?} hit for two pair and he hit the rail.

Swinging From the Rafter

Bradley Verburg just won himself a 280,000 pot, spiking a jack when all in preflop with {A-?} {J-?} versus Anthony Rafter's {A-?} {K-?}. According to one of their tablemates, Rafter had given a few minutes' prime speech play before raising preflop with his Big Slick. He got into a good-shape confrontation which didn't turn out too well, however, and now he's knocked back to just 85,000.

Koch Kills Two Birds with One Pair of Aces

An accident for Paul Zimbler, as he smacked his {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} into Marcel Koch's {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. A straight for Zimbler by the end, but a full house for Koch and Zimbler was down to just 20,000. "I thought I'd be racing," he lamented.

Board: {10-Spades} {5-Spades} {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {Q-Spades}

The next hand, Koch raised to 20,000 and to his immediate left Anto O'Callaghan pushed all in. It folded around to Zimbler on the big blind, who grinned and took a coin out of his pocket. He flipped the coin and it came up call. Koch quickly called too, and it was three-way, on their backs.

Zimbler: {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}
O'Callaghan: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}
Koch: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

Board: {6-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {8-Spades} {10-Spades}

Zimbler and O'Callaghan both headed for the rail.

No Casino Royale for Fleming

Joe Fleming raised to 20,000, and then called all in to a push from Philip Baker. "You call all in for your tournament life with ace-nine?" expressed a flabbergasted Baker. Nevertheless Fleming was dominating.

Fleming: {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}
Baker: {A-Clubs} {4-Spades}

Board: {7-Hearts} {8-Spades} {5-Clubs} {10-Spades} ... {4-Hearts}

"YESSSSS BABY GET IN THERE!!!" bellowed Baker, "BRING IT UP BABY!" Then, more quietly, "Shocking call." Fleming sat very still and silent as his chips were counted, and then he left.

Elsewhere, Aces Hold

Paul O'Connor's present 340,000 stack is due in part to having just busted Cormac Delaney. Delaney moved in on the button with the reasonable {A-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}, but the fantastic {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} of O'Connor in the small blind made short work of him.

Lise Vigezzi the Lot

A huge all-in-preflop three-way on-their-backs rail-pleaser just handed Lise Vigezzi a sudden 200,000-plus stack after a bit of two-out luck. Vigezzi got more action than she wanted with her {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds} -- Eddie Kavanagh was happy to get it in with {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and so was Joe Fleming with {A-Hearts} {A-Spades}. The shortest of the three stacks, Vigezzi didn't stack anyone when she binked the {10-Clubs} on the flop, but she did leave previously-comfortable Fleming in dire straits and took a bite out of still big-stacked Kavanagh too.

Meere Desperation

Graham Masters raised to 23,000 under the gun, and with a mere 22,000 left to his name, Fiachra Meere sighed and called all in. Folds all round back to Masters, and on their backs.

Masters: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Meere: {K-Clubs} {8-Hearts}

Board: door card {9-Hearts} and Meere got up to leave, {Q-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}.

Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha Staying Alive

With just a few qualifiers still in the running for the €100,000 Sole Survivor package, the huge last-longer bets amongst them might be having an effect on their play. Just now Marcel Koch made a raise out of the big blind preflop against Graham Masters (both in the running for Sole Survivor), but passed when Masters put him in, having bet a good chunk of his stack. Paul Zimbler mentioned that the Survivor thing might have had something to do with it, with the carefree chuckle of someone who isn't at all bothered about such things, not being eligible.
