Fleming Jumps Off a Cliff

A nonstandard double-up for Joe Fleming with {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} against a very angry Brent Forrest's {6-Hearts} {6-Clubs}, the chips apparently going in on the flop.

Board: {4-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {A-Spades} {8-Spades}

"Nice hand sir," laughed tablemate Philip Baker. "Were you playing for the diamond on the turn?"

A Blonde Moment

El Blondie bleached
El Blondie bleached
A simple coinflip for Dave "El Blondie" Colclough as he shoved to a raise from Niall Smyth; then a simple walk to the door as he busted out.

Smyth: {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}
Colclough: {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}

Board: {9-Clubs} {2-Spades} {K-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

Vigezzi Gets Some Chips

Roy Brindley raised to 20,000 under the gun, and then with the very minimum of fuss, called Lise Vigezzi's shove for 60,000 total on his immediate left.

Brindley: {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}
Vigezzi: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}

Board: an incredibly unambiguous {J-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {J-Spades}.

Vigezzi, incidentally the last Perrault standing after her husband Pascal busted out on the feature table, sighed with relief, while some French people bounced around and high-fived at the rail.

Two Hands: Two Down

We've already lost John McNaughton, whose 25,000 was instantly all in in a bid for a double-up with {K-Spades} {6-Hearts} , but ran into pocket sixes which held to bust him first.

Then went John de Wit, who fell to queens the next hand. Saying it's a fast-paced start is an understatement.

Color Up and Deal!

The players are in their seats and the final remaining 100 chips have been raced off, giving the lucky few another red 500 chip. Play will restart any minute now...

The feature table is filmed all day every day, and this afternoon's lineup features no fewer than three French players, Paul Testud, Pascal Perrault and Maxime Moczulski.

Irish Open Day Three - In the Money But a Long Way to Go

The remaining 64 players reconvene shortly to play their third day of poker here at the Irish Open. While most of the 700 starting runners are now busying themselves with side events, cash games, or just thronging the rail, these players are vying for a final table spot, and a shot at the €600,000 first prize.

Heading the pack are Andy Bradshaw and Lee Brooke-Pearce tying for the lead, trailed by earlier chip leader Andrew Pantling. Rising fast in the latter part of yesterday was Atanas Gueorguiev, and the top ten in chips are tightly bunched: it's anyone's guess who'll come out on top. They're guaranteed at least €3,500 at this point, but it's going to be a tough battle for the final table and its accompanying televised glory. The atmosphere is already electric -- expect action to kick off within the hour.
