Steven & Reinkemeier Battle In Massive Pot

We just saw a huge pot take place in the back of the room between Tobias Reinkemeier and Brandon Steven that resulted in one of the men being eliminated and the other build his stack up to 150,000.

It began when Reinkemeier opened for 725 from the hijack and was met by a three-bet to 2,125 from Steven in the cutoff. The button and blinds got out of the way, Reinkemeier four-bet to 6,225, and Steven just called. The German then led out for 7,250 on the {2-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop, Steven called, and the {K-Spades} turned.

Reinkemeier wasted little time in betting 17,000, and then Steven sprung to life with a raise to 55,000. Reinkemeier only had 29,000 behind and thought for a solid minute before calling off with the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. Unfortunately for him, Steven tabled the {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for a flopped set. The {3-Spades} river failed to help Reinkemeier, and he made a quick exit from the tournament area. Whether or not he'll reenter remains to be seen.

"Pretty easy game, no?" Steven said to no one in particular while stacking the pot.

Cheong and Alvarado Tangle Again

Joseph Cheong opened to 700 from middle position, JC Alvarado three-bet to 2,200 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Cheong, who called.

The flop fell {5-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Spades}, and both players checked. The turn was the {q-Clubs}, Cheong led for 3,200, and Alvarado called.

The {2-Hearts} completed the board, and Cheong tossed out a single blue T5,000 chip. Alvarado called.

"Ace-high," Cheong sighed.

Alvarado flipped over {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a pair of queens, and won the pot.

Gregg & Oliver Looking For More PCA Success

Anthony Gregg
Anthony Gregg

Neither Anthony Gregg nor Chris Oliver are strangers to the PCA. The former has final tabled the PCA Main Event twice (6th in 2012 for $364,000 and 2nd in 2009 for $1.7 million) while the latter made a name for himself after finishing runner-up to Galen Hall in the 2011 PCA Main Event for $2.3 million.

The two are currently seated at the same table and recently played a small pot together. It began when Gregg opened for 700 from the hijack and Oliver called from the button. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu then called from the big blind and it was three-way action to the {J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop.

Negreanu checked, Gregg continued for 1,300, and only Oliver called. The dealer proceeded to burn and turn the {2-Spades}, and Gregg kept the pressure on by betting again, this time 3,500. It proved enough to do the trick as Oliver opted not to see the river.
