Two New Entries, Smith Doubles Through Pardo

Level 6 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Dan Smith opened to 7,000 from under the gun and was called by Orpen Kisacikoglu in the hijack. Juan Pardo three-bet to 30,000 on the button and Smith responded with a four-bet shove for 166,000. Kisacikoglu quickly folded but Pardo called and the cards were tabled.

Dan Smith: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Juan Pardo: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Smith was just hoping to avoid the dreaded ace in order to double-up and stay alive. The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Smith survived elimination.

Brandon Steven and Dan Fleyshman also entered the field, bringing the total number of entries to 42 thus far.

Aleksejs Ponakovs
Aleksejs Ponakovs

Aleksejs Ponakovs had a fantastic Day 1 start that saw him doubling up within the first level of play.

Unfortunately for the Latvian, he couldn't get anything else going and was eliminated before dinner break.
