Beresford Busts Azor and Heath

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Conor Beresford
Conor Beresford

"Unlucky man," Conor Beresford said to table Ben Heath after he had just cracked the superior pocket pair of the fellow Brit while also dispatching Ran Azor in the same hand as well. Azor had the shortest stack going into the three-way preflop all in for around 13,000 in the cutoff and the cards were as follows:

Ran Azor: {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Ben Heath: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Conor Beresford: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The board came {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Beresford turned a straight to score the double knockout. Romain Lewis was also eliminated at the same time from one table over.

Break

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Players are on their final 20-minute break of the night. After the break, two more levels of 60 minutes will be played until Day 1 is done.

Level: 9

Blinds: 600/1,200

Ante: 200

Some Value for Jozonis and Pollak

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On the river of a board {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs}, Antoine Saout bet 7,000 in the big blind and Benjamin Pollak raised to 19,000 from the cutoff. Sanout called and Pollak rolled over {J-Spades}{10-Spades} for a straight. "Sick river," Saout said in French and Pollak asked him if he had a set. Saout nodded and Pollak boosted his stack.

Anthony Zinno raised to 2,500 from the hijack and picked up two callers, Tomas Jozonis from one seat over and Franz Ditz in the big blind. The {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop brought a check, a bet for 3,200 by Zinno and Jozonis was the only caller. The {K-Clubs} turn and {9-Spades} river were checked and Jozonis won the pot with {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Arends on the Brink

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After losing a hand with a pair of jacks against a flopped two pair on a jack-high flop, Jans Arends was down to his last 4,000. He put those in and got a call from the small blind. Hossein Ensan shoved 36,000 from the big blind and the small blind folded.

Jans Arends: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Hossein Ensan: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

Arends got the triple up on {K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades} but is still short.
