The Katz Out of the Bag

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Krasimir Yankov opened to 10,000 from early position and Cary Katz flat-called from the next seat before Rodger Johnson called from the cutoff and Francisco Benitez came along from the big blind.

Action checked to Katz on the flop of {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} and he moved all in for 11,000, bringing quick folds from Johnson and Benitez before Yankov called.

"No! You're supposed to fold!" cried Katz.

Cary Katz: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}
Krasimir Yankov: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Katz had a pair of nines put was behind the kings of Yankov and couldn't improve as the board ran out {6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} to mark the PokerGO founder's elimination.

Michel Dattani
Michel Dattani

Pol Regas raised to 9,000 on the button and Michel Dattani three-bet shoved all in for 76,000 in the big blind. Regas wasted no time in calling to put Dattani at risk.

Michel Dattani: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Pol Regas: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

It was a coin flip and the flop of {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds} left Dattani in the lead with his pair of tens. The {2-Spades} on the turn and the {8-Clubs} on the river were clean as Dattani doubled up.

Eloy Doubles with Quads; Radgen Exits

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Clément Eloy
Clément Eloy

Up on the feature table, Platinum Pass holders Marc Radgen and Clement Eloy got it all in preflop, with Eloy at risk of elimination.

Clement Eloy: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Marc Radgen: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The flop came out {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to give Eloy trip aces to put him way in the lead and the turn {10-Diamonds} left Radgen drawing dead. The {a-Clubs} on the river gave Eloy quads just as an added bonus as he secured the double up. Radgen was then left with a single big blind and ended up busting soon after.

PN Pod Mori Eskandani
PN Pod Mori Eskandani

In the latest PokerNews Podcast episode of 2023, Chad Holloway and Connor Richards handle things while Jesse Fullen is in Australia. They discuss Mike Postle’s sudden reappearance in the poker world after making a final table at the Million Dollar Heater at Beau Rivage in Mississippi, while also talking about the slowroll and needle that accompanied his bust out.

They try to balance that story with a heart-warming one where Johnnie “Johnnie Vibes” Moreno put a bartender into the MSPT Sycuan Main Event, with the recreational player going on to finish in fourth place for $40,000!

Other stories discussed include WSOP.com Player of the Years, Lon McEachern and Daniel Lowery winning WSOP Circuit gold rings, and early winners from the PokerGO Cup.

Speaking of which, PokerGO’s Mori Eskandani joins the show as this week’s guest. The Poker Hall of Famer talks 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) preparations, who came close to challenging Jason Koon on High Stakes Duel III (HSD), plus when we can expect the next HSD match to take place. He also discussed new developments to this year’s PokerGO Tour (PGT) and shared memories from the days when the Mirage was the hot spot for poker in Vegas.

Normand Wins a Flip to Double Up

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Frederic Normand
Frederic Normand

Michel Dattani raised to 9,000 on the button and Adam Adler ripped all in from the small blind. Frederic Normand stuck the last of his 76,000 chips in the middle from the big blind and Dattani got out of the way.

Frederic Normand: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Adam Adler: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The flop fell {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Normand took the lead with a pair of kings. The {3-Spades} on the turn changed nothing and the {k-Hearts} on the river improved the French-Canadian to a full house to score a double-up, leaving Adler with just 1,000 chips.
