Kyler Springs the Trap

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Action folded to a player on the button who opened to 300. Dan Kyler called from the small blind and so did the big blind.

The A9Q flop hit the felt and Kyler check called a 600 bet from the button. The big blind got out of the way.

The J landed on the turn and Kyler checked again. The button thought for a moment before putting out another bet of 1,100.

Kyler didnt think for long before check-raising to 2,400. Unfortunately, he wouldn't get any action as the button folded pretty quickly. Kyler scooped a small one but moved in the right direction as the day kicked off.

Porter With the Early Aggression

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Action was opened in middle position by local pro Andrew Porter to 300. He got a call in one spot from the small blind.

The flop came 4Q3 and action checked to Porter who continued for another 300. The small blind called.

The 8 landed and the small blind led out for 600. Porter sat in the tank for a moment but eventually called.

The J was put on the river and the small blind led again for 1,200. Porter thought over his options and eventually landed on a raise to 5,500. The player in the small blind thought for a moment but eventually landed on a fold.

Porter dragged the small pot early to gain some momentum.

The Battle Continues at 11:15 AM in the Inaugural PokerStars Summer Series

Live! Poker Room
Live! Poker Room

Earlier this year, PokerStars US announced the return of live tournaments, hosting three weekends of poker action in the inaugural Summer Series at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia.

Two flights kicked off yesterday with a total of 257 entrants. When the dust settled, 32 players found a bag and will move on to Day 2 — in the money! Of the players who bagged, Alesandro Jimenes (576,500) ended up with the chip lead. There are multiple players within a few big blinds, but with three more flights remaining, he is sure to get some more company at the top of the leaderboard.

The battle continues today for a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000 in Event #1: $550 No-Limit Hold 'em of the PokerStars Summer Series. This is the first of three big guarantee tournaments taking place over the next three weekends. The $550 buy-in, multi-day event will kick off at 11:15 a.m. local time with Day 1c. This will be followed by Day 1d at 6:15 p.m., then followed by Day 1e on Saturday morning. Players who find a bag on Day 1 will return on Sunday, August 27, at 11:15 a.m., to battle it out on Day 2 for their share of the prize pool and the illustrious PokerStars Spadie trophy.
