Niklas "Lena900" Astedt Flying High in the $1,050 NLHE Deep Stack

Niklas Astedt
Niklas Astedt

Day 1 of WCOOP 65-H: $1,050 NLHE Deep Stack saw the 167-strong crowd reduced to only 16 hopefuls, one of whom is the Swedish online poker legend that is Niklas "Lena900" Astedt. Having seen several players near the all-time WCOOP leaderboard add to their titles, you can bet your bottom dollar that Astedt will be going all out to do the same.

Astedt returns for Day 2 with enough chips for sixth place. He'll lock horns and butt heads with such luminaries as Andras "probirs" Nemeth, Gabriel "gtavares" Tavares, and Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo, who each sit back down in the top 10. Also in contention are Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis and short-stack Dimitar "KuuL" Danchev.

Play resumes at 5:30 p.m. BST on September 21, with the returning 16 players vying for the $33,668 top prize.

Double Delight For FAL1st Whose WCOOP Wins Reach Double Figures

Mixed game specialist "FAL1st" had a night to remember on September 20 after he won not one but two PokerStars WCOOP events, taking his WCOOP titles into double figures. Out of everyone who has ever played a WCOOP event, only Benny "RunGodlike" Glaser (15), Denis "aDrENalin710" Strebkov (14), Tobias "Senkel92" Leknes (13), Joao "Naza114" Vieira (13), Patrick "pads1161" Leonard (12), and Niklas "Lena900" Astedt (11) have triumphed more.

"FAL1st"'s first win of the night came in WCOOP 61-H: $1,050 8-Game 6-Max, which saw a compact yet talented pack of 68 entrants. After the aforementioned Vieira busted in third, "FAL1st" defeated Austria's "8gm bp" heads-up for his ninth WCOOP victory and $18,353 in prize money.

After taking down that event, "FAL1st" set his sights on WCOOP 68-H: $1,050 NL 5-Card Draw 6-Max. The field may have only been 34 entrants deep, but those players read like a who's who of the online poker world.

Only five of the seven finalists saw a return on their investments. Andrey "Premove" Skvortsov and Blaz "Scarmak3r" Zerjav were the pair who returned home empty-handed.

"FAL1st" progressed to the heads-up stage, where he faced Albanian high-volume grinder "king153246." "FAL1st" got the job done, his hands on his second victory of the evening, and his tenth WCOOP title overall.

Denis "ADrENalin710" Strebkov is One WCOOP Away From Tying For the All-Time Lead

Denis Strebkov
Denis Strebkov

Denis "aDrENalin710" Strebkov is one of the best mixed game players to have ever picked up playing cards. The Thailand-based Russian is both feared and respected in equal measure. Strebkov added his second WCOOP title of 2025 to his glowing poker CV, a victory that leaves Strebkov with 14 WCOOP victories, one shy of the legendary Benny "RunGodlike" Glaser.

Strebkov's latest WCOOP win came in the $109 No-Limit 5-Card Draw 6-Max event, in which 169 players built a $16,900 pot. Although Strebkov's victory only came with a $3,418 top prize, everyone knows that the title of champion meant more to the talented Russian.

Along the way, Strebkov denied Renan "Internett93o" Bruschi what would have been a ninth WCOOP win, with Bruschi having won the $2,100 Thursday Thrill earlier in the day. Bernardo "bedias" Dias and Gleb "Ti0373" Tremzin also reached the final table, but fell short of the victory.

Renan "Internett93o" Bruschi Captures Thursday Thrill Victory and 8th WCOOP Title

Renan Bruschi
Renan Bruschi

Brazilian ace Renan "Internett93o" Bruschi became an eight-time WCOOP champion after coming out on top in the $2,100 edition of the Thursday Thrill. This tournament saw 163 players create a $326,000 prize pool, and Bruschi claimed $68,831 of that impressive sum.

Bruschi returned for Day 2 in the middle of the pack; he found himself ninth in chips from the 16 returning players. He navigated to the nine-handed final table, where the likes of Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson, "hello_totti", Andras "probirs" Nemeth, and Leon "RUMUKULUS" Sturm busted.

Bruschi found himself heads-up against fellow Samba star Brunno "botteonpoker" Botteon after Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis bowed out in third. The all-Brazilian clash went Bruschi's way, and he came out on top, taking home $68,831 and his eighth WCOOP title.

2025 WCOOP
2025 WCOOP

No new PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) events will shuffle up and deal on September 19, and the in-play tournaments remain paused. This is because WCOOP grinders are enjoying a welcome day off from the tables, enabling them to come back refreshed and ready to become a world champion.

WCOOP action resumes on September 20, with 18 events starting. Add to the mix the nine currently paused events and you have all the ingredients for a massive Saturday session. We cannot wait.

"kZhh" Captures Their Fifth WCOOP Title in $5K 6-Max Turbo High Roller

2025 WCOOP
2025 WCOOP

The high edition of Event #63 of the 2025 World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) may have only attracted 49 entrants, but seeing how each paid $5,200 to buy in, the prize pool rocketed to $250,000. A cool $98,088 of that sum is now in the PokerStars account of "kZhh," who also became a WCOOP champion for the fifth time.

"kZhh" defeated Ilya "Leqenden" Anatsky heads-up to clinch the top prize. Anatsky would have won his seventh WCOOP had he not lost the one-on-one battle. Although he missed out on another title, Anatsky collected $64,240 for his efforts.

Leon "RUMUKULUS" Sturm Leads All-Star Final 16 in the $2K Thursday Thrill

Leon Sturm
Leon Sturm

The $2,100 edition of the Thursday Thrill drew in a 163-strong crowd on Day 1, but only 16 of those starers remain in contention for the title and the lion's share of the $326,000 prize pool.

Three-time WCOOP champion Leon "RUMUKULUS" Sturm is the man to catch when play resumes on September 20. Being the chip leader deep into a tournament is a nice spot to find oneself in, but a fourth WCOOP victory for Sturm is far from guaranteed because some incredible players are still in the mix.

The likes of Brunno "botteonpoker" Botteon, Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson, Andras "probirs" Nemeth,"hello_totti," Renan "Internett93o" Bruschi, and "FAL1st" all return to their seats with top 10 stacks at their disposal.

Outside the top 10 yet still in contention for the win are players such as Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis, Blaz "Scarmak3r" Zerjav, "king153246," Tomi "elmerixx" Brouk, and soccer sensation Neymar Jr.

Aleks "grinder1992" Dimitrov Completes Remarkable 2025 WCOOP Hat Trick

Aleks Dimitrov
Aleks Dimitrov

Aleks "grinder1992" Dimitrov is enjoying a purple patch of form at the PokerStars tables. The Bulgarian poker coach has been on fire during the 2025 World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP).

Earlier in the series, Dimitrov came out on top in a $530 NLHE 7-Max Turbo PKO for his first WCOOP victory. Dimitrov won a $530 NLHE 6-Max Turbo PKO the following day.

A week after clinching his second WCOOP title, Dimitrov bulldozed his way to victory in another $530 buy-in PKO event, this time the Bounty Builder High Roller. Winning three WCOOPs is an impressive feat. Winning three at the same festival is incredible. But winning three in the space of a week is off the charts.

Will Dimitrov win a fourth event before the 2025 WCOOP concludes?
