Elias Gone

Level 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Darren Elias
Darren Elias

During bubble play, Darren Elias opened to 32,000 from middle position only to see David Lackey three-bet to 90,000 on the button. The blinds got out of the way to send the action back to Elias who called to see a flop.

Elias checked on the {j-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Spades} flop and Lackey continued for 55,000. That bet alone was not enough to get Elias off of his hand as he called to send the two players to the turn.

Action checked through the {a-Diamonds} turn to the {j-Diamonds} river at which point Elias checked for a third time. Lackey responded by pushing 225,000 into the middle, a bet that accounted for most of Elias' stack. Despite that fact, it did not take long for Elias to call but he mucked after Lackey turned over {10-}{10-} for the full house, leaving Elias crippled. Though he was able to squeak into the money, Elias was eliminated shortly after.

Elsewhere, Sung Lee and start of day chipleader Benjamin Foster were seen exiting the tournament area.

Eisenberg Eliminates Opponent to Burst Bubble

Level 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Lara Eisenberg
Lara Eisenberg

A player moved all in from middle position and was looked up by Lara Eisenberg in the big blind. Once play had concluded at the other tables, the cards were turned on their backs.

Middle Position Player: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Lara Eisenberg: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The middle position player was dominated and would need to come from behind to avoid becoming the bubble boy. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades} to keep Eisenberg ahead, sending the middle position player out of the tournament one spot off the money. The remaining players have now all locked up a minimum of $5,098.

Frutchey Doubles Through Gao

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

A player opened to 31,000 from early position and was called by Shouyi Gao in middle position. Action then folded around to David Frutchey on the button who moved all in for 166,000. The original raiser got out of the way while Gao, after some thought, flicked in calling chips to put Frutchey at risk.

David Frutchey: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Shouyi Gao: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Frutchey was ahead but Gao did have two live cards. The {q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop immediately vaulted Gao into the lead but the {a-Clubs} turn quickly pushed Frutchey back ahead. The {k-Diamonds} river completed the board to give Frutchey a double very close to the money bubble.

Lackey Applies Pressure

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Darren Elias opened to 25,000 from middle position and was called by David Lackey on the button as well as Matthew Su out of the small blind.

All three players checked through the {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop to the {5-Spades} turn at which point Su led out for 30,000. Elias released his holding while Lackey called to send action heads-up to the river.

The {5-Clubs} river paired the board but that did not slow down Su who pushed 85,000 into the middle, representing a significant portion of his remaining stack. Lackey thought for some time before moving all in, eliciting a quick fold from Su.

Nguyen Takes a Hit

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Phong Vip Nguyen opened to 23,000 from early position and was called by a player on the button as well as the big blind.

The big blind checked to Nguyen on the {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop and he continued for 50,000. That got a fold from the button player but the big blind responded by check-raising to 112,000. Nguyen, after some time, opted to flat.

The turn came {k-Diamonds} and the big blind bet again, this time pushing 70,000 into the middle. Nguyen counted his stack, thought for some time and then pushed his cards into the muck to concede the pot.
