Poe Staying Alive

A player in middle position opened to 800 and was called by the hijack, player on the button, small blind, and Robert Poe in the big blind. The five went to a flop of {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} and action checked to the hijack, who bet 2,200. The player on the button called and the small blind folded to put action onto Poe, who also called.

The original raiser then folded to take action three ways to the turn {j-Hearts}. Poe, first to act, shoved all in for 3,200. The hijack called and the player on the button then announced he was all in, getting a fold from the hijack to give Poe a chance at tripling up against one opponent.

"I flopped it," said the player on the button, tabling {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

"Unless you turned a better one," he added, seeing Poe show {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

Poe needed to fade the three remaining queens in the deck to avoid a chop and score the triple, and he would do just that as the river fell {a-Clubs} to earn him the pot.

Tournament Update: Field Surpasses Flight A

Level 7 has just begun and the tournament clock is displaying 137 entries with 84 players remaining. The figure of 137 means that Flight B has officially surpassed the 135 total players that came out last night for Flight A. That number can continue to grow for the remainder of this level and the next, as well as the 15-minute break that follows.

There is also one last chance after this, with Flight C set to get underway tonight at 7 p.m. here in the poker room on the first floor of the Horseshoe Bossier City.

Taylor Earns Double With Aces

Joey Taylor
Joey Taylor

Joey Taylor was all in from the button for his last 11,300 into a pot of just shy of 20,000 on a board reading {2-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. His opponent was in middle position and in the tank.

After about 20 more seconds, he mentioned something about making a big fold. He couldn't follow through, however, as he threw chips into the middle instead of his cards.

Upon being called, Taylor quickly tabled his hand. The two cards never separated, with a black ace showing on the table. He just as quickly reached over and spread out the two cards, proudly displaying {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}. His opponent mucked and despite the all-in situation, the dealer did not table his hand before putting it into the muck and shipping the pot Taylor's way.

Kolb Puts Opponent To the Test

JP Kolb
JP Kolb

Simon Webster limped in from under the gun and saw the player on his left raise to 3,000. Action then folded around to JP Kolb, who was on the button and called. Webster came along as well and the three saw a flop of {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Webster was first to act and checked. The original raiser then made a continuation-bet of 3,000, which Kolb called. Webster folded and the turn came {6-Clubs}. The early-position player pumped the brakes, checking to Kolb.

"I'm all in," announced Kolb, putting out enough chips to put his opponent to a decision for his tournament life. The player balked at the idea, opting to send his cards to the muck instead as the pot was sent Kolb's way.

Kolb, a resident of Youngsville, LA about three hours south of here, was the eighth-place finisher of the $180 RG Deepstack event here at Horseshoe Bossier City in March, 2019. He also recently won a WSOP Circuit ring, taking down the $400 Monster Stack in Coconut Creek at the end of last month for $43,472.

Keathley Fires Thrice

Action was six-handed on a flop of {k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} with around 5,000 in the middle and Kat Bowen was first to act out of the small blind. She checked, as did the next two players behind her from the big blind and under the gun. Tiffany Keathley was next to act, betting 2,600 from middle position to get folds from the final two players in the hand in the hijack and on the button.

Bowen then found action back on her and she called before the big blind and under-the-gun player folded, resulting in six players whittling down to two for the turn {k-Hearts}. Bowen checked again and Keathley made a bet of 6,000. Bowen thought for around a half-minute and proceeded to call.

The river fell {9-Spades} and Bowen checked once more. Keathley pushed her stack forward with both hands, going all in for what was left. Bowen quickly sent her cards to the muck and the pot was sent Keathley's way.

Sermons Makes the Right Call

Rodney Sermons
Rodney Sermons

There was around 15,000 in the middle on a board of {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} in a heads-up pot between the small blind and her opponent, Rodney Sermons in the big blind.

The small blind bet 7,500 and put action on Sermons, who thought about his decision for about 10 seconds before picking up chips to call. He then completed his thought process, taking another 10 seconds before tossing in chips to call.

The small blind stayed put, appearing unwilling to table her hand. Sermons seemed more eager to do so. Both then sent their cards to the middle simultaneously, with the small blind's hand face-down and Sermons' face-up, showing {8-Spades}{5-Spades} for two pair to take down the pot.

Henson Joins the Party

Ray Henson
Ray Henson

RunGood Ambassador Ray Henson was recently seen in the tournament area during the first break and has now been spotted at his seat with chips in play. The Houston resident made the four-hour drive up to Bossier City to take part in this event again, one which he took second place in during the March 2019 edition for $32,115.

Henson was in last night's Flight A as well, but ran dry on luck shortly after the final break of the evening. Time will tell if this bullet will fare more favorably for him.
