Caleb Powell three-bet to 3,500 in the small blind and Qui Nguyen called in the hijack. David Tanner then moved all in for 9,500 in the cutoff and Powell reraised to 17,500, chasing Nguyen from the pot.
David Tanner: J♠J♦
Caleb Powell: A♦K♣
The two players were racing, and Tanner's jacks stayed in the lead through the 8♣4♠2♦7♥10♣ board to earn him the double up.
Christina Gollins recently took her seat at this table.
Harris Kent three-bet to 2,200 in the hijack before Renato Moraes four-bet to 5,300 under the gun. Kent then moved all in.
Moraes had around 15,000 behind and tanked for several minutes. He eventually tossed two queens into the muck. "Big fold. I should've min-clicked it," Kent told him as he took the pot without showing.
Caleb Powell bet 3,500 from middle position on a flop of 8♦6♦5♠ and Johnny Landreth called in the hijack, as did Sukyung Kim on the button.
Action checked to Kim on the 10♥ turn, and she bet 7,000. Powell then moved all in and Landreth folded, but Kim called for her last 25,000. Powell showed Q♥Q♣, but Kim had 8♥6♥ for two pair.
The river, though, brought the 10♦ to give Powell a better two pair, and Kim was sent to the rail.
Caleb Powell, who had just taken his seat in the field, quickly got involved in a three-way pot as they headed to the turn with the board showing 3♠2♣5♦10♥. Powell then bet 4,000 from the cutoff, and Antwan Prince called in the small blind.
The river was the K♦ and Powell bet 6,500. Prince folded this time, and Powell, who spent part of yesterday flirting with the chip lead, took down the pot.
David Tanner led out for 3,000 from the small blind on a flop of A♥A♦8♦ and Qui Nguyen (not to be confused with the WSOP Main Event champion) called on the button.
Tanner bet another 3,000 on the A♣ turn, and Nguyen again called. Tanner checked the Q♠ river, then called when Nguyen bet 6,400. Nguyen turned over A♠J♥ for quads, and Tanner mucked.

Vinubhai Patel raised to 600 under the gun and received two callers, including Glenn Strickland in the cutoff, before Lisa Buck three-bet to 2,700 in the big blind. Both Patel and Strickland called.
The flop came 6♠K♠10♠ and Patel bet 10,000. Strickland called, while Buck got out of the way. Patel slowed down and checked the J♦ turn, and Strickland moved all in for 15,000.
Patel tanked for a minute before folding, and Strickland showed K♥K♦ for top set as he took the pot.
Shannon Scalice bet 1,600 from under the gun on a flop of 10♦9♦7♣ and Harris Kent called in the hijack.
The turn was the A♦ and Scalice checked over to Kent, who bet 2,200. Scalice then raised to 6,200, and Kent moved all in. Scalice, who had around 15,000 behind, took about 30 seconds before folding.
A player in the big blind bet 1,200 on a flop of K♥7♥Q♥ and Rainey Hogan called in the hijack.
The turn was the A♦ and the big blind bet 3,000. Hogan then raised to 6,000, and her opponent called.
Both players checked down the Q♣ river, and Hogan showed A♥K♠ for top two pair to win the pot.
Three players went to the turn on a board of Q♥J♥Q♦10♥ when the cutoff bet 2,500. Eric Wentz then raised to 7,000 on the button, and the cutoff called.
The river was the 2♠ and Wentz bet 14,000. His opponent folded this time, and Wentz took the pot.
Ron Germany, Shannon Scalice, and Jared Reinstein are among the first players in the field on Day 1b.
