More than 10,000 was already in the middle as Micah Cunningham and an opponent went to the turn on a board of K♥A♥J♥2♦. The cutoff then bet 7,400, and Cunningham tanked for a few minutes before calling on the button.
The cutoff checked the Q♣ river, and Cunningham checked back with Q♦10♦ for a flopped straight. His opponent mucked A♠J♠. "I was a little worried about the hearts," Cunningham said.
Dimas Martinez, who won this event in 2024 after finishing runner-up the year before, is in the field today.
Three-handed on a flop of 3♠8♣K♠, Brett Myers bet 700 from the hijack before Corey Major raised to 1,700 in the small blind. Myers called.
Major checked the 5♦ turn, and Myers bet 3,000. Major called, and they both checked down the 7♦ river.
Myers showed K♣J♣ for top pair, and Major mucked.
Derahn Sikes bet 2,600 from the button on a board of 2♥J♣6♥4♦ before Dalip Madnani raised to 8,000 in the big blind. Sikes then moved all in for 22,500, and Madnani tanked for a minute before calling.
Sikes showed J♥3♥ for a pair and flush draw, while Madnani had him out-kicked with J♠10♥. The 10♣ river improved Madnani to two pair, and Sikes was sent to the rail as the first bustout of the day.
Five players went to a flop of A♠Q♣10♥ when a middle-position player bet 1,500. Motyk Scott called in the hijack, as did Troy Hoisington on the button.
Action checked to Scott on the Q♠ turn, and he bet 2,000. Only Hoisington called to see the 3♣ river. Scott checked over to Hoisington, who quickly checked back.
Scott turned over Q♦10♦ for a full house, and Hoisington mucked.
Kelley Slay bet 1,000 from the button on a flop of 10♠5♠9♥ and Virgie Hahn called under the gun.
Hahn then led out for 3,000 on the 7♠ turn, and Slay called. The river was the 4♣ and Hahn bet another 4,000. Slay tanked for a few minutes before calling, and Hahn showed 7♥6♥ for a pair of sevens. Slay turned over 10♥9♠ for two pair to win the pot.
Caleb Powell and Erik Nowosielski are also at this table.
Action is underway with 45 players currently registered.
