Walker Doubles His Short Stack

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
David Walker
David Walker

A player in early position raised to 2,500 and David Walker three-bet all in for 17,500 from the small blind. The initial raiser didn't seem thrilled about it but called nonetheless.

Walker: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Walker was ahead with ace high and that's what made the difference as the board ran out a dry {7-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Back in 2016, this very event attracted 1,075 entries, which meant a $322,500 prize pool more than doubled the guarantee. Steve McKoy emerged victorious in the tournament for $49,755 after a four-way deal.

Also getting a piece of it, $39,200 to be exact, was Ronald Compillo, who won the $350 Escalator Series earlier in the year. Compillo officially finished as runner-up while Michael Merisier and Jacob Snider took third and fourth for $35,750 and $35,710, respectively.

McKoey, who was 29 at the time, added to his Hard Rock résumé, which included wins at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and here at the Seminole Hard Rock.

Among those to finish in the money were 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year Ory Hen (23rd), Lou Stadler (29th), Jessica Dawley (42nd) , Darryl Fish (86th), Zoltan Czinkota (87th) and Evan Teitelbaum (89th).

McCaigue Adds to His Big Stack

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Ryan McCaigue

Jason Atherley opened for 2,200 from middle position and the player in the hijack called. The button did the same and then chip leader Ryan McCaigue three-bet to 12,500 from the small blind.

Atherley folded, the player in the hijack called off for approximately 10,000, and the button got out of the way.

McCaigue: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Hijack: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}

McCaigue was dominated but he had been running hot on Day 1a. That heater continued when the flop came down {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Clubs} to give him the lead with a pair of sevens.

Neither the {k-Hearts} turn nor {5-Spades} river altered his lead and he scored the knockout and added to his already monster stack.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Zarcadoolas

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Matthew Zarcadoolas
Matthew Zarcadoolas

Esther Foley limped under the gun and Matthew Zarcadoolas raised it to 3,200 next to act. The player in the small blind called, as did Foley, and it was three-way action to the {8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop.

All three players checked, the {3-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, and the player in the small blind jammed for 14,600. Foley got out of the way and Zarcadoolas asked for a count before making the call.

Zarcadoolas: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Both players had turned flush draws but Zarcadoolas was out in front with Big Slick. The {a-Clubs} river improved him to two pair and he scored the pre-dinner elimination.

Williams Straightens Out Marshall

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Devon Marshall
Devon Marshall

Devon Marshall got his last 9,500 all in on a {5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop and was looking to double through Russell Williams.

Williams: {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Marshall: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Marshall was ahead with the overpair but Williams had an up-and-down straight draw. The {7-Hearts} turn gave him the straight and Marshall was looking for a nine to chop.

The {k-Diamonds} river wasn't what he needed and Marshall headed to the exit.
