Gierse Takes Over the Lead After Massive Coin Flip

Minh Quang Nguyen raised to 100,000 in early position and Marius Gierse three-bet to 300,000 in the cutoff. The action folded back to Nguyen who four-bet ripped all in for just over 1,700,000. Gierse quickly called and the cards were face up.

It was a huge coin flip for a massive pot and the flop of J♥9♣7♥ favored Gierse with the pocket queens. The 3♥ on the turn gave Nguyen the better of the two flush draws but the 2♣ on the river bricked out. Gierse scooped a massive pot and jumped into the chip lead while eliminating Nguyen.

As soon as the bubble had burst, two players were eliminated. Liang Chen vanished from the feature table and Haojie Huang followed suit soon after. He was all-in with a severe short stack holding the A♠7♥ and Istvan Birizdo looked him up holding the K♦J♦.

The ace remained ahead until the Q♠5♦3♣7♦ turn but the 3♦ river improved Birizdo to a flush.

Raffaele Sorrentino raised it up from the cutoff and Kaihua Liu shoved all in for 535,000 in the small blind. The action was back on Sorrentino who snap-called to put Liu at risk.

The dealers were instructed to finish their current hand and go into hand-for-hand mode two away from the money because all tables had been stalling despite the shot clock in play.

It was then that Yinan Zhou raised to 200,000 from under the gun and left 105,000 behind from under the gun on the feature table. Junbo Qu three-bet to 450,000 in the cutoff and Zhou reluctantly called all-in.

Just before the end of the level, Istvan Birizdo raised to 100,000 and the newly arrived Xin Tong for her last 160,000 in from the next seat to see Birizdo instantly call once the action was back on him.

Shortly after, Charles Chao left the feature table after his A♣J♠ made trips on the A♥9♥2♥8♣A♠ runout only for Quan Zhou to score the knockout with 9♠9♣ for nines full in a preflop all-in on the feature table.
