Two Knockouts in a Row for Mendoza

Level 18 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Yang Wang
Yang Wang

James Mendoza raised to 75,000 and instantly called the shove by Lei Yu for 545,000 without asking for a count.

Lei Yu: AQ All in
James Mendoza: KK

The J7689 board was a sweat with the over card and flush draw but Yu found no help.

Shortly thereafter, Mendoza opened to 75,000 and Yang Wang pushed all-in for even more. This time, Mendoza asked for a count and had to mull it over when the shove was deemed to be for 945,000 - thirty one big blinds. Eventually, Mendoza called and Wang sheepishly turned over his cards.

Yang Wang: 44 All in
James Mendoza: 99

The AK5 flop gave Wang some runner-runner equity but he was instantly drawing dead on the 9 turn to make the 10 river a formality.

Another Massive Cooler Results In No Eliminations

Level 18 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Patrik Demus
Patrik Demus

Martin Nielsen opened to 60,000 in early position and Patrik Demus just flat called in the cutoff. Gary Thompson reraised to 270,000 on the button and Nielsen shipped all in for 420,000. Demus asked for a count and then also shipped all in for 1,755,000. Thompson quickly called having both of his opponents covered.

Martin Nielsen: 1010All in
Patrik Demus: AAAll in
Gary Thompson: KK

The flop came Q53 and Demus was still well out front with his pocket aces. The 8 on the turn changed nothing but the 10 gave Nielsen the best hand on the river. Nielsen managed to triple up while Demus raked in the large side pot, sending Thompson below average stack.

Junbo Qu raised to 65,000 in early position and Yunkyu Song three-bet to 225,000 from the small blind. Qu four-bet shoved all in for around 800,000 and Song snapped him off.

Junbo Qu: AAAll in
Yunkyu Song: KK

All of the chips inevitably got in the middle and the board ran out J9268 and Qu let out some emotion for the first time today as he collected a healthy pot.

Dong Chen
Dong Chen

Boxin Jin raised it up from the cutoff and was called only by Dong Chen out of the big blind. They got it in after the 976 flop with Chen holding 97 for two pair and his last 210,000. Jin, however, had flopped the straight with 108 and the 10 turn as well as J river changed nothing anymore.

Yuan and Salazar Sanchez Clicking Buttons

Level 18 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Yilu Yuan raised to 60,000 in middle position and Mauricio Salazar Sanchez three-bet to 160,000 in the cutoff. The action folded back to Yuan who splashed in a four-bet to 285,000.

Salazar Sanchez responded with a five-bet all in as the bigger stack and Yuan wasted little time before sending his cards in the muck after committing nearly half of his stack.

"Nines," Yuan said to his tablemates in Chinese which was then translated to English by Ivan Zhang so everyone understood.

Zhang Puts Gierse in the Blender

Level 18 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Ivan Zhang raised to 60,000 in middle position and Marius Gierse reraised to 190,000 from the small blind. Zhang called and the dealer fanned the flop of J106. Gierse started with a check and Zhang bet 225,000 which Gierse called.

The turn brought the J and both players checked to the 9 on the river. Gierse led out with a bet of 200,000 and Zhang sighed, used a time bank, and then shoved all in for 765,000.

Now it was Gierse's turn to spend some time in the tank as he used up six time banks while a crowd gathered around the table. Gierse finally slid his cards to the muck and Zhang showed his 65 while he scooped the pot.

Salazar Sanchez Jams Into Chen

Level 17 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Mauricio Salazar Sanchez
Mauricio Salazar Sanchez

Mauricio Salazar Sanchez raised to 50,000 and then called a three-bet to 130,000 by Dong Chen on the button. Following the K74 flop, Salazar Sanchez check-called for 60,000 and checked the J on the turn. Chen used a tine bank and then bet 125,000 for Salazar Sanchez to call moments before his shot clock ran out.

Salazar Sanchez then opted to open shove the 3 on the river for 230,000 effective and Chen went into a deep tank. He used five time banks and then folded. In the meanwhile, Anton Lu was eliminated off a recent short stack and the field plummeted to the final 40 contenders.

Pang's Full House is No Good

Level 17 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Supeng Pang
Supeng Pang

James Mendoza raised to 50,000 in middle position and picked up three callers along the way. The flop came KK7 and Mendoza continued with a bet of 75,000. Supeng Pang check-raised to 175,000 from the small blind and Mendoza moved all in. Pang called off his stack of around 500,000 and the cards were tabled.

Supeng Pang: 77All in
James Mendoza: K8

Pang flopped a full house but Mendoza still had some outs after flopping trip kings. The 4 landed on the turn and it was the 8 on the river that gave Mendoza a better full house and eliminated Pang.
