Mario Mosböck Explains Why Triton Is “The Pinnacle of Poker”

Mario Mosböck
Mario Mosböck

Mario Mosböck will return for the final day of the $30,000 NLH 8-Handed with one of the biggest stacks in the room, and if recent results are anything to go by, few players in poker look more comfortable under the bright lights of a Triton final day.

The Austrian high roller sat down with PokerNews in Jeju last year to discuss why Triton continues to stand above every other stop in the game, the mentality he brings from his former life as a professional footballer, and why the chase for Triton trophies still means more than the money.

“It’s by far the best tournament experience in the world,” Mosböck said. “Four times a year, everyone meets, and you play basically the pinnacle of tournament poker.”

The three-time Triton champion also opened up on competing alongside close friends and rivals like Fedor Holz and Matthias Eibinger, handling pressure in the biggest spots, and the athlete mindset that continues to shape his approach at the table

Star Power To Collide on Final Day of $30K Triton NLH as Antonius Leads Loaded Field

Patrik Antonius

If there's been a better final day setup in tournament poker this year, I'm not sure I've seen it.

The $30,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed at the Triton Poker Montenegro has whittled down a 133-entry field into just 20 survivors, and the final stretch looks every bit as stacked as you would expect from a Triton event.

At the top of the counts is a familiar presence. Patrik Antonius leads the way with 3.1 million chips (63 big blinds), the Finnish legend once again right where he so often finds himself when things get serious. Right behind him is Javid Ismayilov on 3.05 million, with Mario Mosboeck sitting third on 2.7 million as the chasing pack begins to form.

A Who’s Who Still in the Hunt

Kristen Foxen

If the top three alone already sets the tone, the rest of the field only reinforces it.

With 20 players remaining, the tournament is stacked with Triton champions and proven high-roller regulars, and there is no obvious soft spot left to target.

Ethan "Rampage" Yau and Kristen Foxen are both still in the mix inside the top eight, each chasing a first Triton title and a career-defining score on this stage.

Around them are players who need no introduction or breakthrough moment. Adrian Mateos, Fedor Holz, Kiat Lee and Jesse Lonis are all still very much involved, each with multiple major titles already to their name and plenty of experience closing out fields like this.

Add in five-time Triton champion Danny Tang, plus yesterday’s winner Anatoly Zlotnikov looking to back it up, and the depth of quality becomes even more pronounced.

The bubble has burst, there's $928,000 up top, and this final day looks nothing short of unmissable.

Zlotnikov Denies Rampage in Brutal Runner-Runner Hand to Claim $715K Triton Title

Anatoly Zlotnikov
Anatoly Zlotnikov

Anatoly Zlotnikov emerged victorious in Event #2: $25,000 NLH 8-Handed at the Triton Poker Montenegro festival, banking $715,000 after navigating a marathon final table that featured some of the biggest names in the game and one of the most dramatic hands of the series so far.

The Russian secured the title from a 119-entry field, defeating Maher Nouira heads-up, but the turning point of the event that had everyone talking came earlier at the final table, in a hand against Ethan "Rampage" Yau that sent shockwaves through the feature table.

Rampage Falls in Cruel Runner-Runner Cooler

Yau found himself in a prime spot to double through Zlotnikov after getting his stack in good with AK against A4.

The flop of KQJ left Yau in complete control with top pair and Zlotnikov drawing to running cards only. The turn 4 gave the Russian a sliver of hope, but he was still down to just two outs heading to the river.

One of them arrived. The 4 completed the runner-runner miracle, giving Zlotnikov trips and leaving Rampage on the wrong side of a brutal setup as he exited in eighth place for $92,000.

Mikita Badziakouski was next to fall after committing his short stack soon after the Zlotnikov-Yau clash, locking up seventh place for $125,000.

Hannes Jeschka followed in sixth, with Jason Koon taking fifth for $212,500. Curtis Knight exited in fourth, while Yu Zhang completed the podium in third for $321,000.

Heads-Up Decides the Title

Zlotnikov entered heads-up play against Nouira with a clear chip advantage, but the match still had swings before the final hand settled things.

The decisive moment came when Nouira moved all in with A5 and found himself dominated by Zlotnikov’s 109 after a tense final exchange.

The board ran out 53987, giving Nouira top pair but completing a straight for Zlotnikov to close out the tournament.

Nouira collected $486,000 for second place, while Zlotnikov secured a second Triton trophy to add to his $25,000 Turbo NLH success at Triton SHRS Cyprus in 2023 and the $715,000 first-place prize.

Zlotnikov’s Triton Double Sets the Tone as Mystery Bounty Headlines Day 4 in Montenegro

Triton Montenegro
Triton Montenegro

Good morning and welcome to PokerNews' coverage of Day 4 of the 2026 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro.

The level of poker on display in Montenegro has already been nothing short of ridiculous, and Day 3 added another chapter to what is quickly becoming a must-watch festival at Maestral Casino & Resort.

Yesterday saw another Triton champion crowned as Anatoly Zlotnikov captured his second Triton title in Event #2: $25,000 NLH 8-Handed.

To get there, Zlotnikov had to navigate a field packed with elite talent, denying the likes of Jason Koon, Mikita Badziakouski and Ethan "Rampage" Yau before eventually sealing the trophy. His elimination of Yau came in one of the most brutal hands you’re likely to see all series, but we’ll get to that shortly.

Now the focus shifts to another huge day of high-stakes action, with Event #3: $30,000 NLH 8-Handed set to play down to a winner, while there's high-stakes bounty action getting underway in the $40,000 Mystery Bounty later this afternoon.

Triton Montenegro Schedule - Saturday 16th May

  • Event #3: $30,000 NLH 8-Handed - Final Day - 14:00
  • Event #5: $40,000 NLH Mystery Bounty - Day 1 - 16:00

As ever, you can follow all the action on the Triton Plus app for hand-by-hand coverage throughout the day.

There’s also live streaming from the feature tables across Triton Plus, YouTube and other streaming platforms, so plenty of ways to keep tabs on developments as the action unfolds in Montenegro.

More highlights from yesterday’s action coming up a little later.

Who Are Triton Poker's 10 Biggest Winners? Bryn Kenney Out in Front

Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

The prize money that Triton Poker awards during each of its Super High Roller Series stops is astronomical, so much so that if a newcomer wants to break into the top 10 of the tour's all-time money list, they would need to earn a staggering $25,714,817 while hoping none of the current top 10 added to their current tallies!

Bryn Kenney is the biggest winner at Triton Poker events by far. The New Yorker has a cool $50,804,802 in earnings, helped by an impressive five titles and 24 in-the-money finishes. Kenney doesn't cash as often as his Triton peers, but when he does, he seems to rake in a colossal score.

PokerStars' Jason Koon ranks second in this list, courtesy of winning $38,298,784 in Triton events. Koon has 12 Triton victories, the most of anyone, and 74 cashes to his name. Only Stephen Chidwick, who ranks third in the earnings charts with $34,258,606, has cashed in more Triton tournaments (76) than Koon.

Two other stars, aside from the trio already mentioned, have won at least $30 million on this elite tour. Mikita Badziakouski ($31,886,817) and Daniel Dvoress ($30,389,982) are that duo.

Places four through ten are occupied by players who have won between $25,714,816 and $27,620,630; one deep run or victory here in Montenegro could see them leapfrog several places up the leaderboard.

Punnat Punsri ($27,620,630), Danny Tang ($26,542,454), Paul Phua ($26,026,082), Aleksejs Ponakovs ($25,790,640), and Dan Smith ($25,714,816) all know their way around a Triton poker table and are more than capable of reeling in a high-six or even a seven-figure payday.
