Day 1b Completed
Play has wrapped up for Day 1b of the Unibet DeepStack Open Marrakech main event. After nearly thirteen hours of play inside the luxurious Casino de Marrakech at Es Saadi Resort, French player Thierry Dinael ended the night with the biggest stack, bagging an impressive 844,000.
Dinael sits comfortably ahead of his two closest competitors, with the next two biggest stacks at the end of the night belonging to Abdelmajid El Hani of Spain (555,000) and French Pro Guillaume Darcourt (515,000).

Dinael held a comfortable stack throughout the day but it was only during the last level of the night that he surged to the top of the counts after delivering a brutal cooler to Viet Phung, who had flopped a set only for Dinael to river a bigger set to take down the biggest pot of the day.
Darcourt was active throughout the day today, playing many hands and always seeming to have a mountain of chips in front of him. With over $1,500,000 in career tournament earnings, including a previous runner up finish at a DeepStack Open Event in 2018, Darcourt is certainly one of the most experienced players that will be in the field for Day 2 and will undoubtedly be looking to take home his first DeepStack Open title.
Other notables to bag and tag at the end of the day include Unibet Team Pros David Lappin (367,000) and Alexandre Reard (332,000). Notables who weren't so fortunate to make it to the end of the day include Sonny Franco and Aurelie Reard.

Day 1a and 1b have generated a combined total of 383 entrants so far, with 76 having advanced to Day 2. The field will continue to grow as tomorrow there will be two Day 1 flights including a turbo Day 1d beginning at 9 p.m. local time.
Play for Day 1c of the main event begins at 1 p.m. local time on October 6th, 2023. As always, stay tuned to PokerNews for a brand new day of action tomorrow at the 2023 Unibet DeepStack Open Marrakech.

Play has concluded at the end of Day 1b. A total of 53 players found a bag for Day 2.
Stay tuned for full chip counts and a full recap of the evening.
Iryna Tsikhanskaya moved all in from the small blind for her last 29,000 and was called by Guillaume Darcourt in the big blind who covered her.
Iryna Tsikhanskaya: A♣9♦
Guillaume Darcourt: A♥5♦
Tsikhanskaya was in great shape to double up but the Q♥9♥4♥ flop gave Darcourt a ton of outs in the form of a flush draw. The 2♠ turn and Q♣ river were blanks and Tsikhanskaya secured a full double up right before the end of the night.

The tournament staff has announced that four more hands will be played before players bag their chips.
With the board reading 4♥3♣10♦6♣ and roughly 175,000 already in the middle, Viet Phung checked and Thierry Dinael bet 60,000. Phung made the call.
The river was the A♠ and this time Phung lead with a bet of 100,000. Dinael quickly made the call.
Phung tabled 3♠3♥ for a flopped set while Dinael showed down A♣A♥ for top set on the river to take down the largest pot of the tournament so far.
Meanwhile, Sorin Pruteanu and "Adriii" were both recently eliminated.
